[Note from Frolic: We’re so excited to welcome author Ivy Smoak to the site today. She has some hilarious TV show recs for you. Take it away, Ivy!]

If there’s one thing I know, it’s amazing TV shows. Specifically hilarious TV shows. There is no better feeling than laughing out loud. Laughing is the cure for all things. Whenever I’m not writing, you can probably see me sneaking in a show.  TV shows help get me out of work mode and help me relax. But even though comedies are my absolute favorite, I love a good drama too. Bring on the drama! Which is why my books always take you on a rollercoaster of emotions.

My new release, Matchmaker, takes you on just such a journey. And if you love the following five shows, you will absolutely fall in love with Matthew Caldwell in Matchmaker:

Gossip Girl

So. Much. Drama.  And specifically – backstabbing. Don’t worry, I’m not about to spoil who Gossip Girl is for all those who haven’t seen the show. I’m not a monster. But you have to go watch it. It’s so bingeable I watched every season within like…a month. Which is crazy. But the drama is so good! And Matchmaker is a little like Gossip Girl because Matthew Caldwell has been known to backstab his friends. He’s a bad boy.

New Girl
New Girl

One of my favorite shows of all time. Not only is it hilarious, but there’s an ongoing story about a group of friends. And…there’s one friend *cough* Nick *cough* who falls in love with someone in the friend group. How is it like Matchmaker? Oh, Matthew, you scoundrel. He falls in love with his best friend’s wife! I told you he was a bad boy…

You know how in this show everyone kind of just pretends to like each other? Like…you’re not fooling anyone.  These women all secretly hate each other. In Matchmaker, the hero has been through so much strife with his friends. He definitely has his acting face on. And he may just be trying to mess everything up for everyone  – including himself. Matt’s a ticking time bomb. Get ready for a lot of explosions!

Friends
Friends

Following the journey of the most endearing group of friends over several years, Friends is the best! It’s my go-to show because it feels the characters are my friends. And Matchmaker has that same charm – all my books are connected. And this series starts out with all the Untouchables being in high school. And ends with them 16 years later. That’s a lot of fun ground to cover, and these boys have not had an easy ride.

Happy Endings

I can’t stop laughing whenever I watch this show. The characters are all just…ridiculous.  Off the wall crazy.  And Matchmaker has a few new characters in it that fit that bill. Crazy. Hilarious. Weird. Awkward. Amazing. If you thought Matthew Caldwell was amazing. Just wait until you meet Tanner Rhodes in this one. Everything ends with a happy ending where he’s concerned.

Matchmaker released on May 20th. Get ready to laugh, cry, and fall in love with Matthew freaking Caldwell.
