[Note from Frolic: We are so excited to have author Stacey Kennedy guest post on the site today. Take it away Stacey!]

For years, I only read thrillers. I loved the twists and turns, danger and adventure. It wasn’t until a Lisa Jackson novel, where I discovered sex mixed in throughout the pages. I became instantly hooked and fell down a rabbit hole of hot romance books that I couldn’t get enough of.

My venture into sexy stories took off with the paranormal genre with Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series, Keri Arthur’s Riley Jensen series, and Charlaine Harris’s Sookie Stackhouse series. There is something undeniably sexy about a powerful werewolf and a devilishly handsome vampire…am I, right? And let me just say, if you’re looking for some hot paranormal lovin’, you’ll find that in spades with these fabulous series.

After that, I spent some time in the YA world with Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy and Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series, where, of course, the sex isn’t as explicit, but that doesn’t mean it’s still not hot. Some of the sexiest moments between characters I’ve read have happened in young adult novels. The building chemistry and greater detail to the little things like hot kisses make for some pretty steamy moments. I’m sure we all got a taste of this with Edward and Jacob in Twilightswoon!

When I moved back into contemporary novels, Sylvia Day’s Crossfire series and Lorelei James’s Rough Rider series were delicious and addictive. There is absolutely nothing better than characters we love layered into a novel full of sex scenes that bring depth to the story.

All that said, if we’re talking my absolute favorite sex scenes in the history of ever, hands down it’s Anne Rice’s The Sleeping Beauty Trilogy.

The story follows much like the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty, only this version is erotic, explicit, and the sweet and innocent, Beauty is swept away by the Prince into a world of sex slavery. And let me tell you, it’s H-O-T!

Like, keep a fire extinguisher next to you hot!

There were knocks at the door, cries.

He didn’t bother to answer them. He laid Beauty down again.

“I’m your Prince,” he said, “and that is how you will address me, and that is why you will obey me.”

He parted her legs again. He saw the blood of her innocence on the cloth and this made him laugh softly to himself as again he gently entered her.

She gave a soft series of moans that were like kisses to his ear.

“Answer me properly,” he whispered.

“My Prince,” she said.

“Ah,” he sighed, “that is lovely.”

For me, this was my very first introduction to the alpha male…and I was there for it! Heck, I still am. The fantasy of Beauty’s story is what makes this trilogy so erotic. Anne Rice expertly pulls you, as the reader, into this world that should terrify and yet only arouses instead. The sex written on the pages is both dark and delicious, and I will never be able to get enough. Ever.

Though through the eroticism of it all, you have Beauty. A character you want to find her happily-ever-after. And that, I believe, is what drives any good sex scene. Sex is just sex without emotion and without the desire to feel what the character goes through on her journey. In Beauty’s case, it’s a wild, erotic, adventure that left me fanning myself a thousand times over.

Now fair warning, this trilogy is not for the faint of heart. The BDSM is plenty, and at times, brutal. But if you’re up for a mind-blowing erotic fantasy, and you haven’t checked out this trilogy, GET THESE BOOKS!

If The Beauty Trilogy is a little too much fantasy for you, you can’t go wrong with any of the authors I’ve mentioned today. Each author brings burning chemistry that leaves you panting for more.
