[Note from Frolic: We are so beyond excited to have SubZero creator June/Junepurrr guest post on the site today. If you haven’t read SubZero yet….WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!]

I have to say, this is a rather difficult question because when imagining any adaptation of SZ, I usually envisioned it an animation over a real life cast (it would be entertaining to cast a real life Dragon). I have not watched too much American TV lately, but I do occasionally watch many Asian Historical/Fantasy Dramas when I can find time (Drama fans might be able to recognize the actors from this list). I also had a bit of help from my friends and readers alike who helped me come up with this list!

SubZero Clove
Clove: Dilraba Dilmurat

I’m sure there’s lots of talented actresses who could play Clove, but one that always sticks with me is Dilraba Dilmurat. I think she would do a good job displaying Clove’s kind-hearted, innocent character while being able to deliver a more intense/intimidating side of her for those Blue-Glow Dragon Moments. (Note: I also think she looks adorable with bangs, which is a must for my girl Clove!)

SubZero Kyro
Kyro: Kris Wu

Kyro was really tough to “cast”. He’s young, yet also has to appear menacing and charismatic. I think Kris could play the character really well (and he has the eyebrows and jawline to match!)

SubZero Kharis
Kharis: Kelsey Chow, Joanne Tseng

I’ve had multiple suggestions for Kharis, including Kelsey Chow and Joanne Tseng. Unlike Kyro, her character is sly, playful and very endearing. I think these ladies could do a good job of portraying her charismatic nature.

SubZero Reina (Rei)
Reina (Rei): Malese Jow, Victoria Song, Angelababy

Reina is a stunning beauty whose face is marred by an ugly scar. She’s also a General, so in a way the scar only helps to make her more intimidating!

SubZero Nouren
Nouren: Jiro Wang

A couple of friends actually suggested Jiro Wang as Nouren and I have to say, he could definitely capture the professional, yet cheeky side of the Guard Captain.

SubZero Aaron
Aaron: Zhang Ruoyun

I had a really, REALLY hard time finding an actor to play my second lead. Fortunately, I remember watching the drama Novoland and realized how much I had liked this actor. Aside from the great cheekbones, think he’d do a great job portraying Aaron’s sweet and protective character.

That’s it for now! I know I left out quite a few important characters (Raizo, Yun, Mai, Empress and Generals, etc.) but it’s clear I need to watch many more dramas before I can successfully come up with my “Dream Cast”.  If anyone has another suggestion for any of the characters listed I would love to hear them!
