Five Great May Reads With Absolutely Gorgeous Covers

Five Great May Reads With Absolutely Gorgeous Covers

By Kate Olson

For May, I bring to you books with covers that will make you ready to hit the garden… or at least the florist! They say April showers bring May flowers, right? Well, depending on where you live, this may or not be the case this year… but no worries!

I have all of your flower eye candy right here in the form of absolutely gorgeous book covers that you may be tempted to use to decorate your home, or at least your Instagram feed.  I hope that you’ll eventually open them, though, since the stories are fabulous as well!

The Perennials by Julie Cantrell

(Thomas Nelson ~ November 14, 2017)

A sweet Southern family story including long lost loves and actual gardens and flowers, The Perennials will make you long for a trip back to your hometown. This is a very innocent romance with a family focus.

Kiss Carlo by Adriana Trigiani

(Harper ~ June 20, 2017)

This sweeping family epic takes readers back to Philadelphia in the mid-1900s, and dazzles with its intergenerational tales of love and strife. Possibly best classified as historical fiction with romantic themes, Kiss Carlo is a gorgeous story with something for (almost) every reader.

Love by the Books by Te Russ

(Amazon Publishing ~ March 8, 2017)

This one is H-O-T and bookish and straight up fabulous romance. A female in the publishing field and a male bookstore owner meet up and there are sparks and reading references galore. One of my favorite bookstore romances of all time!

Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemore

(Feiwel & Friends, October 3, 2017)

Lush, gorgeous, magical, sensual…...I could go on and on still not be able to find the right words to accurately describe this book! Magical realism that grabs you and won’t let go ~ these women grow flowers with their hands! ~ and depictions of a wide array of types of love and fluid sexuality make for a completely unique reading experience. I don’t normally read a lot of fantasy or magical realism, but the cover grabbed me and the story now has my heart.

Strawberry Summer by Melissa Brayden

(Bold Stroke Books ~ April 1, 2017)

Definitely the most open-door and steamiest of this list, Strawberry Summer is a beautiful love story between two women who lose one another and then are brought back together years later. In a sweet California small town setting on a strawberry farm, Margaret and Courtney’s romance will have you cheering for them and their love for one another.

Okay, and now some bonus books that I haven’t had the opportunity to read yet, but that have GORGEOUS covers!

And now for a confession… I worked INSANELY hard on this list and came to this conclusion: There are actually WAY fewer books with smart romantic themes AND flowers on the cover than I anticipated there being! If you have any other recommendations, please do share them with me over on Instagram or Twitter… I now have a bit of an obsession with this combo!

Happy spring reading, my friends!
