These bookstores are must-visits!

BlackwellsEdinburgh
Blackwell’s

One of my favorite bookstores in the world is Blackwell’s bookstore in Edinburgh. It is so beautiful, has an amazing cafe, and has some of the best selection. This bookstore is also in a great area of the city and is next to some great comic book stores. Blackwells has multiple floors and I specifically love their fiction section right when you walk inside. The people who work here are super nice, and I love the reading areas downstairs. If you want a large bookstore to explore, then this is a great one to go to!

Waterstones Ed
Waterstones

I love visiting any Waterstones I can find when I visit the UK, but one of my all-time favorite Waterstones is the one in Edinburgh. This store is so beautiful, bright, and the perfect place to spend hours on end reading, writing, browsing for books, and drinking coffee. I always make sure to make a stop at this store when I am in the city. They have an incredible selection of books, and Waterstones always has really amazing special editions of popular new releases. *whispers* They also have some of the best Chai and some of the best scones I’ve ever had in my life. I truly recommend checking out this store when you are in Edinburgh!

Transreal Fiction Fantasy and Science Fiction Bookshop

This is one of my favorite bookstores in the world that I have had the chance to visit. I remember the first time I discovered this bookstore. It was the first time I was in the city. I was with my parents, and it was pouring rain. We stumbled upon this small bookstore while trying to find the entrance to Greyfriars Kirkyard. This bookstore carries all books that are in the Fantasy or Science Fiction genres. It is the perfect place for someone like me and my dad, who have grown up loving science fiction and fantasy all of our lives. What I really liked about this store was the ambiance… it feels like you’re walking into a whole other world filled with incredible books and stories. It is a really small store but has one of the best selections of books I’ve ever seen. This store really represents the amazing selection of specialty bookstores that are littered throughout Edinburgh. I always find myself gravitating towards this bookstore whenever I visit, and I love supporting an independent bookstore. It is also such a pretty space to look at and spend time in.

Armchair Books
Armchair Books

If you are looking for an incredible bookstore that sells second-hand and rare books, then this is the store for you! Armchair Books is one of my favorite bookstores because it is a completely immersive experience. The moment you step into the store, you are surrounded on all sides with walls and stacks of books. In my experience, I’ve found some of my most treasured books in second-hand bookstores, and I remember specifically loving Armchair Books because their selection of books was incredible. This is a beautiful store that is full of nooks and crannies that call out for a reader to sit, relax and read. When I was first in Edinburgh, my parents and I went back to this store five times because we could not get enough of it.
