There are few things that this southern girl loves more than sweet tea and air conditioning in the summer time. But one of those things is friends-to-lovers tropes!! Nothing makes my heart sing more than reading all of the angst involved when two best friends are secretly in love with each other and can’t get their shit together enough to verbalize it. I SERIOUSLY LIVE FOR THIS SORT OF THING and I know I can’t be the only one! Luckily, yesterday was National Best Friend day, so I decided to share with you my all-time favorite friends-to-lover’s books!!! Buckle up because it’s going to be one heck of a ride!!

Frigid by J. Lynn (Jennifer Armentrout)

Oh my. J.Lynn wrote the very first romance book that I ever read. It was a spin off from her LUX series, called Obsession, and it opened my eyes and wallet to a whole new world of books. After devouring Obsession, I quickly bought ALL of her other books. One of my favorites (of all time) is Frigid. What I liked most about FRIGID was that it featured a heroine who loves to read. I love how relatable Jenn makes her characters. This one sort of has a dark twist at the end and you won’t want to stop reading once you reach THAT part so make sure you dedicate plenty of time to this babe of a book!

HIM by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy

This is a book that I hold very close to my heart. I read this shortly after it was released and fell totally in love with Jamie and Ryan. It is a little different than the others on the list because their friendship is on hiatus as the book begins but I would consider this one of the top 5 romance books that I have ever read. The slow burn and sweetness of the relationship is something that you can’t deny. Plus Sarina and Elle are a writing duo that can do no wrong!

The Friend Zone by Kristen Callihan

GOOD LORD DOES ANY BOOK HAVE BETTER BANTER THAN THE FRIEND ZONE? The answer is no. This is one of those OHMYGOD JUST GET IT TOGETHER ALREADY books but like, in the best way possible. Gray and Ivy have incredible back and forth but to be honest, I don’t know how Ivy resists Gray’s charm. When he decides he wants to progress things, he pulls out all the stops! Watch out, Ivy!

Dark Wild Night by Christina Lauren

Alright, at this point, if you have read any articles that I have written, then you KNOW how much I love Christina Lauren. Seriously, every single book of theirs knocks it out of the park for me. The same can be said for Dark Wild Night, which is possibly my *favorite* Friends to Lovers book of all time. Oliver is a sweet nerdy boy who has a sexy Australian accent, so it’s safe to say that Lola didn’t stand a chance against his charm! This couple is a geeky match made in heaven!

Mayhem by Jamie Shaw

Mayhem is one of those books that is so perfectly executed that you can’t help but think about it days after you’ve finished it. Not only does it feature a swoon worthy band of rock stars but it is also such an interesting take on the friends to lover’s trope that I had to make sure I added it to my list. Rowan knows that Adam is in love with Peach, her persona from their one drunken night together, but she also knows that Adam has no idea that *she* is Peach, so she is tasked with the important decision of deciding whether or not she should reveal herself or keep things the way they are and remain Just Friends. Seriously, if you haven’t read a Jamie Shaw book we can’t be friends.

Alright! Now that you know my top 5 fave friends to lovers books, you have plenty to keep you busy on best friends day! Don’t forget to show your BFF some love before diving into one of these fan-freaking-tastic books! OH! And if you read one of my recommendations make sure to keep me updated on your thoughts!  I love gushing about books so feel free to send me your Friends to Lovers recommendations as well!!!
