The first Paranormal Romance book I ever read had werewolves in it and ever since then I have not been able to switch to any other paranormal…person? Not vampires, not aliens, not mermen… I am sticking to howls and growls for now and the author to blame for my obsession is Suzanne Wright.

Feral Sins by Suzanne Wright is the first book in the Phoenix Pack series and captured my animal instincts from page one.

There is nothing I love more than a strong female character and Taryn Warner is just that, a strong, sarcastic, female alpha with the special ability to heal other wolves. The only problem Taryn has is that she is also a latent wolf, meaning that she is not able to shift into her wolf form and, despite the strong alpha vibes she gives off, her latency has led people from her pack to distance themselves from her and her father is no exception. He sees her as nothing more than an inconvenience and comes up with the perfect plan to get rid of her while also benefiting from a new pack alliance… marrying her off. Taryn has no intention of complying with her father’s wish and tries to become as difficult as possible to buy herself some time and come up with a plan to run away.

The moon must have been listening to our female Alpha because soon a much better (and sexier) option comes along.

Trey Coleman rightfully won the title of Alpha when he was a teenager but his uncle banished him from their pack territory. A few of Trey’s closest friends decided to follow him and start a whole new pack from the ashes: The Phoenix Pack. After what happened with his uncle, Trey decided he wanted to do things differently and chose to avoid pack politics, but now his uncle is back and intends on taking Trey’s pack and territory.

Trey needs to form an alliance and he needs to do it fast before his uncle shows up looking for a fight.

Wicked Cravings by Suzanne Wright is the second book in The Phoenix Pack series and it is just as steamy as the first book!

Jamie and Dante are both part of The Phoenix pack. Jamie has had a crush on Dante since they were young but Dante doesn’t reciprocate and has never shown any interest in her no matter how flirtatious she gets. It’s not until Jamie decides to move on with her life that Dante realizes he misses her and wants her to be part of his life. Yes, yes… I know what you’re thinking… typical man! But don’t worry, he actually redeems himself!

Jamie’s wolf is traumatized and although she does everything in her power to control her wolf, certain people want her out of the picture and the truth about her wolf starts to slip out. Dante quickly realizes something is wrong and even though Jamie is convinced that not even the Beta of The Phoenix Pack can help her, and has made it clear she wants nothing to do with him, Dante is not ready to give up (See? Redeeming himself).

I think what I enjoy most about stories with werewolves in them – other that all the animalistic passion – is the psychological factor; the person’s wolf usually represents their subconscious. Both Taryn and Jamie have emotional baggage to unpack and they are not able to control their wolves until they face their past and learn to control their feelings.

The next book in the series is called Carnal Secrets and although I haven’t read it yet, I know the main wolves are an Alpha male and a Submissive female. I am very curious to see how this story develops!
