monochromatic
as I shut the door
and stepped out
into monochromatic surroundings
I gently reminded myself
that art takes time
and slowly but surely
I would paint the colors
back into the canvas of my world
worthy
I hope I taught you
that you’re worthy of love
even if it can’t be mine
polaroid
you snapped a photo of me
on your polaroid camera
and I blushed
watching my feelings for you
develop faster
than the film itself
lights
every time my phone lights up
with your name
my face lights up
with a smile
and my imagination lights up
with visions of a future
so let’s keep these lights on
because I am suddenly
afraid of the dark
superhero
I do not need saving
I simply need a superhero
who is strong enough to fight for me
even on days when we seem to be
each other’s worst enemies
heartstrings
you picked me up like an old guitar
and made the sweetest melodies
from my worn out heartstrings
highlighter
I take a highlighter
to the parts of my life
where you are written in
so that nothing can ever
erase you from me
quicksand
you consume my thoughts
like quicksand
and as hard as I try
to wiggle my way out
I feel myself sinking deeper
into the desire of you
afterthought
you will be someone’s
first thought in the morning
and last thought at night
and until then
you do not need to be
anyone else’s afterthought
fight
find a love worth fighting for
that doesn’t require you to do so
EXCLUSIVES:
wine
let’s get drunk
on a love
that will age
like a fine wine
and no matter how disoriented
we might get
let’s always promise
to stumble home
to each other’s hearts
envious
I may be a poet
but I assure you
my actions will speak to you
in ways my words
will always be envious of
