If you can’t tell by now, the fine people at Frolic are not over ABC’s Once Upon a Time. You know, that show about the fairy tale characters  that live in Storybrooke, Maine. While I won’t get started how genius the show was and that #CaptainSwan will forever live on, I will share five books series that should hold you over until you start to binge the series (again)!

1. The Fairy Tale Enchantress by K.M Shea

Calling all Regina fans! Ever wanted to know what it would be like to have magic and not like to use it? When Angelique is about to get voted out of her magic school she is taken under as an apprentice to a prodigy. But things change and “Once upon a time is about to become very real…”

2. Beyond the Four Kingdoms by Melanie Cellier

In this thrilling series, Melanie Cellier takes fairy tales into her own hands. Sure, you’ll find Snow White and Beauty and the Beast, but you’ll also find forgotten stories like Twelve Dancing Princesses, The Swan Princess, and The Snow Queen. She transforms these princesses into the heroines of our dreams, where they do the saving!

3. The Swept Away Saga by Kamery Solomon

Time travel, romance, pirates, and treasure? Did that get your attention? In this series, we follow Samantha Greene and her adventure of accidental time travel (the best kind!) as she’s swept back to 1695 and captured by an Irish pirate. This series follows Samantha in a finished five book series!

4. Forbidden Forest by Amber Argyle

Let me set the stage for you here: your little sister has gone into the forbidden forest; she’s taken by a beast. You have to go get her, but you find something out that you’re not supposed to know, so naturally the beast is going to forget about your sister and go after you. Plot twist! The forest has given you magic, but you can’t use your magic out in the open because you could get hanged. Oh, and one more plot twist…. You might just fall in love with the beast!

5. The Warrior Maiden by Melanie Dickerson

A reimagining of Mulan set in medieval Europe. This story is still about the fierce, badass warrior mixed with a few new characters, new dilemmas and a revival to a reluctant friend (possible love interest?). Warrior Maiden is sure to get you through until March 2020 when the live-action movie is in theaters!
