[Note from Frolic: We’re so excited to welcome author Amy Aislin to the site today. She’s sharing all of her favorite hockey romances with us. Take it away, Amy!]

Thank you for joining me to celebrate the release of my newest m/m romance, Risking the Shot, the fourth book in my Stick Side series. If you like hockey romances, be sure to check it out. Risking the Shot has an age gap romance, a single dad, and a hockey player falling for a cake decorator.

As a writer of hockey romances, I love reading hockey romances. There’s just something about an athlete falling head over heels that really appeals to me. Today, I’ve come with a list of some of my favorite hockey romances.

Deke by Eden Finley

This was the first book by Eden Finley that I ever read, introducing me to her writing, and I loved it so much that I quickly devoured the entire Fake Boyfriends series. Deke is sexy, sweet, and smart, and Eden Finley writes great banter. Plus, the NHL player and sports reporter angle made for such a fun read!

Home & Away by Samantha Wayland

Probably my favourite hockey romance of all time (so far), Home & Away is a sweet, slow burn, enemies-to-lovers romance. It’s one of my go-to re-reads and I’ve got all of my favourite scenes bookmarked in my paperback. The story is so beautiful and you’ll fall in love with the characters and root for them until the very end.

Empty Net by Avon Gale

I love the entire Scoring Chances series by Avon Gale, but Empty Net is my favourite and it has a lot to do with the enemies-to-friends-to-lovers storyline. The characters are so real and relatable, and Laurent’s social awkwardness is incredibly endearing. It features competing goalies on the same hockey team who start off hating each other’s guts, until they sort of…don’t.

Good Boy by Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy

This one is so laugh-out-loud funny that I often re-read my Kindle highlights when I need a laugh. With a hero like Blake, it’s impossible not to read this with a smile on your face. It’s not all laughs, though—it’s fun and sexy and so entertaining. There are plenty of feels to keep a reader happy in this friends-with-benefits romance.

I love myself a good hockey romance. What are some of your favorites?

About the author:

Amy’s lived with her head in the clouds since she first picked up a book as a child, and being fluent in two languages means she’s read a lot of books! She first picked up a pen on a rainy day in fourth grade when her class had to stay inside for recess. Tales of treasure hunts with her classmates eventually morphed into love stories between men, and she's been writing ever since. She writes evenings and weekends—or whenever she isn’t at her full-time day job saving the planet at Canada’;s largest environmental non-profit.

An unapologetic introvert, Amy reads too much and socializes too little, with no regrets. She loves connecting with readers. Risking the Shot by Amy Aislin, out now!

Time for distractions? Hardly.

A chance at making the playoffs? It’s a dream for NHL forward Taylor Cunningham that just might come true. If he can keep his eyes on the ball—ahem, puck. And study for midterms. Dakota Cotton, eleven years his senior, isn’t just a distraction, though—he’s everything Tay’s ever wanted.

Dakota has no interest in introducing someone who might not stick around to his four-year-old son. Been there, done that, with the divorce to prove it. But there’s something about Tay that hits all of the right buttons and has him wanting to take a chance.

As things heat up between them, and the pressure to succeed hits an all-time high, will they risk a shot at happiness or choke?

  1. Maureen Smith’s “Denver Rebels” series is super sexy with “Wicked Games” being my favorite hockey romance. Odette Stone’s “Vancouver Wolves” series is great as well.
