My Romance Threesome Of The Week by Kate Olson

My Romance Threesome Of The Week by Kate Olson

How can it be August? For real? Where did my summer go????? Rather than dwell on that, though, let’s dive into bookish things that will surely make you happier than the impending change of seasons!

ALL the ebooks and audiobooks in a really cute library app

I’ll be completely honest here - I didn’t start embracing the beauties of Libby until just this past month, so if you’re as behind as I am, don’t worry! Libby is a new-ish app from Overdrive that is the digital audiobook and ebook delivery method for the vast majority of public libraries. I had used the old Overdrive app with students in the past and found it cumbersome enough that I didn’t work very hard at using it in my own reading life. In retrospect, that was silly, and I 100% should have. Moving on, though - meet LIBBY!

I have been inhaling even more audiobooks lately thanks to Libby and found it super easy to set up and connect with my library. I struggled at first with how to change the loan period, but thankfully my Instagram friends helped me out with that. It seems that my library system has a pretty short initial loan period for audiobooks, which is fairly scary for me - however, the titles I am checking out from the library right now aren’t new, so I have been able to renew them with no issue.

I have actually been using Libby to listen to books that I own in hard copy but haven’t been able to get to - listening to them while also being able to refer to the hard copy has been so helpful! Hooray for even more free ebooks and audiobooks! If you’re as behind as I was and aren’t using Libby yet - get on it. Know that new books will definitely have holds lists, but try to work on patience like I am…….they say it’s a virtue!  And please reach out to me on Instagram if you need help.

Absolutely amazing NERD GIRL romance

Neanderthal Seeks Human (Knitting in the City #1) by Penny Reid

Neanderthal Seeks Human is yet another title that was recommended to me by the fabulous Leigh Kramer, who is really turning out to be my recommendation go-to for smart romance. It was also my introduction to the amazingness of Penny Reid - YAY! This book is the first in the Knitting in the City series, but I’ll tell you now that there really isn’t much actual knitting in this book - sorry to disappoint any knitters out there!

Neanderthal Meets Human combines a totally adorable and nerdy woman with a STEAMY hot man and a case of mistaken/hidden true identity and math and computer geekiness and hilarious no-filter statements from the main character, Janie. Her crush on the security guard she has nicknamed Sir Handsome McHotpants all of a sudden turns into a real life relationship, and life gets all sorts of interesting as she goes from dumped and laid off to in lust and newly hired.

If you love nerdy love, add this to your TBR now!

On My Radar

There were too many to pick just one this week! Here are three books releasing on August 7 that I’m excited to read as soon as I possibly can get to them.

The Simple Wild  by K.A. Tucker (Publisher Summary)

Calla Fletcher wasn't even two when her mother took her and fled the Alaskan wild, unable to handle the isolation of the extreme, rural lifestyle, leaving behind Calla’s father, Wren Fletcher, in the process. Calla never looked back, and at twenty-six, a busy life in Toronto is all she knows. But when Calla learns that Wren’s days may be numbered, she knows that it’s time to make the long trip back to the remote frontier town where she was born.

She braves the roaming wildlife, the odd daylight hours, the exorbitant prices, and even the occasional—dear God—outhouse, all for the chance to connect with her father: a man who, despite his many faults, she can’t help but care for. While she struggles to adjust to this rugged environment, Jonah—the unkempt, obnoxious, and proud Alaskan pilot who helps keep her father’s charter plane company operational—can’t imagine calling anywhere else home. And he’s clearly waiting with one hand on the throttle to fly this city girl back to where she belongs, convinced that she’s too pampered to handle the wild.

Jonah is probably right, but Calla is determined to prove him wrong. Soon, she finds herself forming an unexpected bond with the burly pilot. As his undercurrent of disapproval dwindles, it’s replaced by friendship—or perhaps something deeper? But Calla is not in Alaska to stay and Jonah will never leave. It would be foolish of her to kindle a romance, to take the same path her parents tried—and failed at—years ago. It’s a simple truth that turns out to be not so simple after all.

The Good Luck Charm by Helena Hunting (Publisher Summary)

Is it love, or is she just his good luck charm? New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Helena Hunting absolutely delights with this witty and fun standalone contemporary romance.

Lilah isn't sure what hurt worse: the day Ethan left her to focus on his hockey career, or the day he came back eight years later. He might think they can pick up just where they left off, but she's no longer that same girl and never wants to be again.

Ethan Kane wants his glory days back. And that includes having Lilah by his side. With her, he was magic. They were magic. All he has to do is make her see that.

Just when Lilah might finally be ready to let him in, though, she finds out their reunion has nothing to do with her and everything to do with his game. But Ethan's already lost her once, and even if it costs him his career, he'll do anything to keep from losing her again.

To Have and To Harley by Regina Cole (Publisher Summary)

Rough and tumble Motorcycle Club member Trey Harding never had a family outside the Iron Horsemen. So when he meets his gentle, long-lost mother and she asks what he does, he blurts out a bald-faced lie: wedding planning. Now hired to plan his sister's wedding, there's only one crew he trusts pull off this charade.

When maid of honor Bethany Jernigan steps in to help the wedding planner, she doesn't expect to find a gruff, tattooed man in charge--or to find herself so drawn to him. When attraction turns to passion, Trey will have to figure out how to tell everyone the truth without losing his new family, his crew, or the woman of his dreams.
