My Top Planner Picks for Busy Moms and Beyond by Victoria James

[Note from Frolic: We are so excited to have author Victoria James guest posting on the site today. She’s sharing some of her top planner picks for busy moms and everyone else! Take it away, Victoria.]

I’m not sure when it happened-that moment when I became a ‘planner person’. By that I mean, the kind of person who can’t wait for a calendar or academic year planner launch, a person who has an assortment of stickers for planners, or matching pens and markers, and washi….but somewhere along the way I became that person.

Planning has morphed from being just a way to stay organized to something much more important. This year especially, it’s turned into a creative, almost therapeutic outlet.

Maybe you’re looking for a new planner for a little inspiration for the year ahead, because heck, this has been a very different year and you’re ready for something new, or maybe you’re new to planning, or maybe you’re looking for the perfect gift for someone. The planners I’ve listed below are all planners I am currently using and loving. Some are goal planners, journals, or just calendar planners, but they are all gorgeous, functional, and inspiring. Without further ado, here’s my top three list!

Erin Condren, Life Planner

This has been a favorite over the years, even though I haven’t used it every single year. But what I love about the system are the interchangeable covers and all the different options-different layouts, different coils, different binding.  I love being able to change the look of my planner throughout the year to keep things fun and interesting. There’s a daily system or a weekly system depending on your planning style. Right now, I’m using a weekly system with a horizontal layout for my writing planning only. There are so many accessories to keep things fun and coordinated as well.

Planner Perfect

Okay, this is an entirely new system for me and I’m only on my third month and it’s something I never thought I’d like-traveller’s notebooks. But this system, founded by Jenny Penton, is hands down the most inspiring, dreamy, beautiful planner that I’ve ever used. Jenny creates all the covers and artwork and sells the traveller’s notebooks as well. Inside the traveller’s notebooks, I have four different planners. One for the current month, one for the year, one journal, and one Christmas planner. You can swap them out for whatever works for you-there are recipe notebooks, journals, and so many custom options. The beauty about this system is that I’m looking at gorgeous artwork every day and that I’m journaling every day. You also get more than just a planner system with Planner Perfect-you get Jenny’s insight into what she calls her ‘scripting method’ so that your life isn’t just reduced to endless “to-do” lists. I’m still learning, but I feel like this be a long-term winner for me.

The Power Sheets by Lara Casey at Cultivate what Matters

So, these are more of a yearly goal planning system. This is great if you’re wanting to dig deep and think about what you really want in your life, things you want to cultivate. What I love about this-it’s gorgeous, complete with stickers, covers to choose from, stunning gold foiling and vibrant colours inside. The company itself is filled with really caring women who cheer you along and motivate you throughout the year to pursue your goals. They are big believers in small progress adding up at the end of the year. They also offer so many resources to support you during your journey.

So that’s it! That’s my personal planner lineup this year-way more than I’ve ever used, but I have a system that’s working at the moment. I can see myself cutting it down to two ideally, but I just can’t figure out which one I’d cut out. As you can see from the pictures, they are all gorgeous! And all of them have coordinating accessories to keep you motivated throughout the year.

I hope some of these planners are new to you and will help you navigate the new year with style and inspiration!

About the Author:

Victoria James is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of contemporary romance.

Victoria always knew she wanted to be a writer and in grade five, she penned her first story, bound it (with staples and a cardboard cover) and did all the illustrations herself. Luckily, this book will never see the light of day again.

In high school she fell in love with historical romance and then contemporary romance. After graduating University with an English Literature degree, Victoria pursued a degree in Interior Design and then opened her own business. After her first child, Victoria knew it was time to fulfill her dream of writing romantic fiction.

Victoria is a hopeless romantic who is living her dream, penning happily-ever-after’s for her characters in between managing kids and the family business. Writing on a laptop in the middle of the country in a rambling old Victorian house would be ideal, but she’s quite content living in suburbia with her husband, their two young children, and very bad cat.

Snowed in with the Firefighter by Victoria James, out now!

Dr. Melody Mayberry’s life just took a turn that’s left her questioning everything. Where better to hide out than the remote family cabin in the mountains? The last thing she expects to find there is her swoon-worthy brother-in-law, the one man who may have more baggage than her.

Finn Matthews is not ready to face the fact that the recent injury he sustained in a fire may have ended his firefighting career. He’s not interested in sharing the cabin with anyone, let alone Melody, and their family just texted with yet another unwelcome surprise—they’ll be there Christmas Eve.

To keep their meddling family at bay, the two team up to fake a little holiday cheer. But between ridiculously competitive Monopoly games, marathon Christmas decorating, and a storm that strands them together with nothing but a fire and a warm couch, they realize something major—their fake holiday cheer isn’t feeling so fake anymore, and that’s something neither of these two Grinches expected…
