This is the month of love and these books DEFINITELY bring the romance, chemistry and plenty of banter (I’ve been watching too much Love Island). My top picks for New Adult range from heart wrenching to pee-your-pants funny. The troupes are also hot with neighbors, friends-to-enemies, second chance love, some of my absolute favorites. Read on to discover and to see which made my top of 2020 list!

Wild at Heart by K.A. Tucker

Calla Fletcher returns to Toronto a different person, struggling to find direction and still very much in love with the rugged bush pilot she left behind. When Jonah arrives on her doorstep with a proposition she can’t dismiss, she takes the leap and rushes back to Alaska to begin their exciting future together.

But Calla soon learns that even the best intentions can lead to broken promises, and that compromise comes with a hefty price—a log cabin in interior rural Alaska that feels as isolating as the western tundra.

With Jonah gone more than he’s home, one neighbor who insists on transforming her into a true Alaskan, and another who seems more likely to shoot her than come to her aid, Calla grapples with forging her own path. In a world with roaming wildlife that has her constantly watching over her shoulder and harsh conditions that stretch far beyond the cold, dark, winter months, just stepping outside her front door can be daunting.

This is not the future Calla had in mind, leaving her to fear that perhaps she is doomed to follow in her mother’s fleeing footsteps after all.

Wild at Heart by  KA Tucker is the most beautiful book I have read in 2020. I know it’s still early to call it but this is one of my absolute favorites of 2020. We always read up to the HEA but do we ever dive into the work that makes it stay an HEA? Wild at Heart does just that. This is the sequel to The Simple Wild another must read. KA Tucker sets a romance against the wild, unrestrained beauty of Alaska. Calla must discover if she can live in the wilderness and flourish. Or will Jonah and Calla ultimately crash and burn? This is a journey into new places, new relationship boundaries and new character I absolutely adored.

Bastard Bachelor Society by Sara Ney

What is the Bastard Bachelor Society?

It’s a gentleman’s club—like the dignified men of the past used to have.

Except, we’re not gentleman, and we’re not dignified.

We’re ineligible bachelors; bored, jaded and not looking for relationships. Quite the opposite actually…

We’re so committed to being single, we’ve created a high stakes bet to see who can remain single the longest. Rules are involved. Prizes.

Laugh it up, but I’m no loser.

Enemy number one to my single status? My irresistible neighbor, Abbott Margolis. She with her evil cat Desdemona, and Sexy AF pencil skirts. She’s kind and beautiful and hilarious. We can’t get involved, no matter how much her meddling grandmother pushes us together. But if I was going to lose this bet for anyone? It would be for Abbott.

Let’s face facts: I’m a bastard, unwilling to settle down. Especially when there’s a bet to win.

Brooks our hero had a dicey start with his very douchey attitude and antics. However, our heroine is my favorite! Abbott immediately called him out on all of his dastardly ways and when she couldn’t, Desdamona (Abbott’s cat) always put him in his place. While he was busy trying to stop his friends from getting into serious relationships as well as himself, he didn’t realize he was about to get thrown in a loop. He had no idea that he needed someone who was not afraid to go toe to toe with him. It’s a slow build, these neighbors turned friends, spent a lot of time getting to know each other and my first impression of Brooks was changed.

Beautifully Broken Control by Catherine Cowles

A woman trying to rebuild her life.

Kennedy is doing all she can to escape, to prove that she’s not the monster her father was. A simple life of peace and service is all she needs.

A man haunted by a past he can’t forget.

Cain has buried his demons under layers of control and success. The only thing he needs is his company and his solitude. Certainly not a woman with captivating green eyes filled with ghosts so similar to his own.

He’s a reminder of the life she’s left behind. And she’s a threat to his tightly guarded control. As sparks fly between them, they discover that what they might need most is each other.

But with pasts like theirs…you never know when darkness might descend.

I am loving small town romances and this author delivers this month with a spellbinding story of redemption and healing. Our heroine, Kennedy, has a unique background, I don’t want to spoil it! I was not expecting that and now I want to read more stories like this! Kennedy moved to Sutter Lake out of desperation and seeking peace. Cain has landed in this tiny town for much of the same reason and his story takes much more patience to be seen. I was hooked! There’s such a sweet side to this series but there’s also an edge, this perfectly describes Kennedy as well. As Cain and Kennedy navigate this surprise relationship, old hurts will surface and watching them navigate this together is what builds this story up.

A Favor for a Favor by Helena Hunting

When I joined Seattle’s NHL expansion team, I thought it was the start of something great. But nothing ever goes the way you expect. Take my introduction to my new neighbor. She came rolling in on the hot mess express at midnight, making a racket while she tried to get into my team captain’s apartment. Did I mention that he’s married to a woman who definitely was not her?

Imagine my surprise when I end up with an injury that has me out of the game for weeks, and she’s the one to offer to help me. I should probably add that she’s not the captain’s mistress. She’s his sexy, pastel-haired younger sister.

So we come up with an arrangement: she rehabs me so that I can get back on the ice sooner, and she can add a professional athlete that isn’t her brother to her client list. Seems simple enough. As long as I can keep my hands to myself and my hormones in check.

Helena Hunting is so hilarious! These neighbors will keep you up from laughing so much. As a new physical therapist, Stevie just wants to make her way in the world and doesn’t want to ride her brother’s coat tails. Her new neighbor seems to have a different idea of her and that leads to one of the most hilarious meet cutes. Their banter continues through the use of dueling door slams, newspaper pick ups and rescue calls.
