When all we want to read are romantic comedies, I can’t help but want to see a twist. And that got me thinking; what better twist could we possibly get than a really funny and romantic paranormal story? Because things that go bump in the night don’t have to be exclusively scary or intense. They can let loose and make us laugh as well. So, I’ve put together my list of recommendations for you. Anything by these authors, and in particular the series I mention, are worth the read and guaranteed to entertain you this summer. You just have to decide if you want it fangy or furry!

The Midnight Liaisons series by Jessica Sims

I’m kicking this off with a series that mixes all the supernatural creatures! It gives you a great sampler of the genre and has one of the most original and fun premises. Midnight Liaisons is a supernatural dating agency. Basically matchmakers. Paranormal creatures submit a profile and their desires. They’re then matched with someone on Midnight Liaisons database based on what they said they’re looking for. This is a series you won’t want to miss!

The Immortals After Darkseries by Kresley Cole

When it comes to humor and paranormal worlds, no one does it better than Kresley Cole. No, seriously. The Immortals After Dark series should be on a must-read list for any paranormal reader. It is also perfect to dip your toes into the genre as well. The heroines are definitely a little crazy and a lot of fun, the heroes are alpha and some have horns. Who can resist a good horn job? Kresley Cole was the first author that introduced me to this possibility! She’s guaranteed to deliver a fun ride with every installment of the series.

The Magnus Pack series by Shelly Laurenston

Ok, I lie because it’s not just this series. Really anything this woman writes should be on a paranormal rom com list. And you get to not only read her books as Shelly Laurenston but she also writes kick ass and funny as hell fantasy romances as G.A. Aiken. So, if you like dragons, head that way.  And if you like furry, then stay with the Laurenston name. But one thing is for certain with all her books; they’re laugh out loud funny and over the top. No boredom in sight.

The Aisling Grey series by Katie MacAlister

This is another author that once you get through this series, you can dive into a whole backlist of connected paranormal rom coms. Aisling Grey introduces the world of the Guardians and dragons. It reads like the perfect chick lit with the romance and main characters spanning the whole series. It’s extremely funny, there’s plenty of romance and the most important part… The best sidekick character in the history of books. Jim, the demon dog.  It’ll have you rolling on the floor laughing. And after you’re done… there are spin offs to tackle!

The Naked Werewolf series by Molly Harper

If you want some gently comedy than Molly Harper is your girl. Harper’s books are full of quirky funny heroines and the heroes who try to understand them. My particular favorite of hers is the Naked Werewolf series. The series has some grumpy heroes (a favorite of trope of mine!) and some fantastic heroines. So, if you want something light hearted that will keep you chuckling, then check out Molly Harper.

Freakn’ Shifters series by Eve Langlais

When looking for a rom com, don’t just focus on the com, you need some good rom as well. Eve Langlais not only manages to make you laugh, but she will have you fanning yourself for all the hot romance she is throwing your way. Because, what’s better than one sexy hot shifter pursuing you? Why, two sexy hot shifters pursuing you of course! The Freakn’ Shifters series features mainly menage romances that have a heavy dose of the sexy funny times!

The Argeneau Vampires series by Lynsay Sands

Literally one of the old classics and a series that is still going strong. Canadian vamps with their origins in Atlantis who are looking for their fated mates. There might even be one that faints at the sight of blood. While there are a lot of books in this series, you can certainly pick them up as standalones and read out of order if you like.

These paranormals don’t take themselves too seriously and you can’t go wrong with any of them. So, what are you waiting for?
