We here at Frolic are obviously all about the rom com, but that doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy a good family-friendly flick every once in a while! Especially if that movie has lots of scenes about baseball and features pro skater Tony Hawk. What movie are we referring to? The 2012 masterpiece Parental Guidance, of course! Starring Billy Crystal, Bette Midler, and lots of other talented people, Parental Guidance is laugh-out-loud funny from the first moment. If you haven’t heard of this hilarious film, allow us to introduce you.

Parental Guidance focuses on the Decker-Simmons family: parents Alice and Phil, grandparents Artie and Diane, and adorable kids Harper, Turner and Barker. Alice is preoccupied trying to raise her kids in the most correct way possible, down to her blanket ban on sugar. When her very laid-back parents have to watch the kids for a week, things go awry almost immediately, and in the best way.

And did we mention the baseball featured throughout?? Artie is a washed-up baseball commentator with some of the funniest lines in the film, and the little-league scene will have you doubled over. Finally, the ending will literally bring you to tears. It gets us every time.

Parental Guidance is, of course, rated PG and therefore perfect for a family movie night this long weekend. Kick back with some popcorn after a fun labor day and give Parental Guidance a watch. If you’re still not convinced, check out the trailer below. You’ll be convinced.
