Whenever I’m sad, I think about Dylan O’Brien’s performance in The First Time and I’m a little bit less sad. Dylan was a staple of my teenage years, and I thought it only right to pair some of his characters with books that I love. Read on to find your new favorite read based on your favorite Dylan O’Brien character!

Stiles and Crave by Tracy Wolff

I cannot recommend the Crave series enough, and I am (not so) patiently waiting for the third book to drop in March. I’ve paired Dylan’s iconic character Stiles with this book for a few reasons. First, there are werewolves involved. Second, just as Stiles has hundreds of laugh-out-loud moments throughout the Teen Wolf series, Crave and its sequel are full of humor and heart. Third, I’m absolutely in love with both this character and this book series.

Stuart and In Real Life by Cory Doctorow and Jen Wang

Love computers much as Stuart does? You’ll love this adorable graphic novel from Cory Doctorow and Jen Wang. Step into the world of RPGs with this title–we know that Stuart would be into them!

Dave and The Best Laid Plans by Cameron Lund

I quote this movie on the daily. Here is a selection of quotes from Dave, Aubrey and the gang that live in my head rent free.

-Mmmmm…no. Uh-uh.

-That sounds pretty…..pretty unforgettable.

-She was never gonna go out with you, she thinks you’re disgusting.

-Riiiight. Who gives a shit?

-Oh my God, I’m too embarrassing to even live.

I digress. Both The First Time and The Best Laid Plans are full of awkward first, pining and sweet guys. Any fan of Dave will become a fan of Andrew’s.

Thomas and Internment by Samira Ahmed

Two things that I again cannot recommend enough! The Maze Runner and Internment are both dystopian, and we watch as our heroes try to escape and fight against their horrible, unjust circumstances. You won’t find any Grievers in Internment, but you will find a lot of excellent, important social commentary.

Mitch Rapp and The Gallagher Girls Series by Ally Carter

Spies, spies, spies! American Assassin is one of Dylan’s darkest movies, but there is still plenty of secret agent, spy fun. I immediately thought of the Gallagher Girls series, one of my old favorites. It’s a series about a school for female spies. It’s hilarious, romantic and addicting, just like watching Dylan O’Brien on screen.

What’s your favorite Dylan O’Brien character?
