Katy Perry has always been one of those artists who is always trying something different. Aside from being the pop icon of my childhood, Katy Perry is always finding new ways to grow and reinvent her music. As an ode to the pop star of my childhood, check out these bookish song pairings!

“Never Really Over” & Maggie Finds Her Muse by Dee Ernst

As the song suggests, things are never really over for anyone and that includes Maggie! This romantic comedy is just what you need for your cute weekend read!

“Unconditionally” & In Deeper Waters by F.T. Lukens

I may be getting ahead of myself, but I think In Deeper Waters is going to be my favorite book of the year! (I know it’s only spring but who’s counting days anymore?) Set in a magical world full of adventure and romance, this sea-faring book will have you feeling all the feels!

“Dark Horse (feat. Juicy J)” & The Helm of Midnight by Marina J. Lostetter

Lately, all I’ve been reading is fantasy, and this one does not disappoint! A mix of action, adventure, and mystery, this book will make you stay up past your bedtime.

“Firework” & Blood Like Magic by by Liselle Sambury

I need to start this off with praising that gorgeous cover. If that doesn’t want to make you pick up a copy right now, perhaps the tagline will: A rich, dark urban fantasy debut following a teen witch who is given a horrifying task: sacrificing her first love to save her family’s magic. I mean, are you kidding? This YA fantasy is absolutely stunning!

“ET” & Victories Greater Than Death by Charlie Jane Anders

I don’t usually read science fiction, but I must admit that this book is making me want to read even more of the genre! This space opera is filled with adventure and aliens for all of your galaxy wishes. (Also, that cover.)

“Daisies” & Dog Days by Ericka Waller

This book is absolutely adorable! I’m a huge dog lover, but there is so much more than cute puppies to this story. If you’re looking for something uplifting but still real, definitely check this one out!

“Roar” & A Chorus Rises by Bethany C. Morrow

It’s no secret how much I love books set around the sea, but this duology is one of my favorites! Sirens have always interested me and I adore this urban fantasy world that Morrow has created. If you haven’t picked up the first book, A Song Below Water, then now is a great time to dive in! (Get it? Because they’re sirens!)

“Part of Me “ & The Insiders by Tijan

This is my first Tijan book, and I was so hooked from the beginning I finished the entire book in one sitting. My only question now is where can I buy all of their other books and how can I read them all over the weekend?

“Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” & Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty

Ah, a classic YA coming of age. Obviously I had to pair this with a throwback song from when I first read this series. If you’re looking for a classic YA contemporary, definitely give this series a go. Plus, they are getting new and stunning covers!

“Wide Awake” & The Library of the Dead by T.L. Huchu

Okay, here me out; listen to this tagline: Sixth Sense meets Stranger Things in T. L. Huchu’s The Library of the Dead, a sharp contemporary fantasy following a precocious and cynical teen as she explores the shadowy magical underside of modern Edinburgh. Do I really need to say more? This urban fantasy was such a page turner!
