Here’s a fun fact about me: I LOVE putting outfits together. My wardrobe is full of carefully selected blouses and skirts that can be worn together in many combinations. Having been in quarantine for months, it’s been far too long since I’ve selected an outfit with purpose. But today, I’ve paired some outfits from my closet with some of my favorite books. These are not necessarily meant to mimic the cover or main character of these works, but instead reflect the overall vibe of the book.
Let’s get into it!
Let’s kick things off with one of my favorite books of all time: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. This YA classic follows Juliette as she struggles to survive in a dystopian world. I selected the glitter skirt from Cotton On because this book just exudes a very sparkly energy. The black leather jacket from Varga represents the fact that Juliette takes NO shit, and the fingerless gloves from Urban Outfitters are a nod to her superpower: she can’t touch anyone without killing them.
Good Girls Lie exudes a very powerful “felt cute, might commit a federal crime later” energy. That’s what I went for with this mysterious, vaguely British look. Sunnies, shirt and necklace from Varga, skirt from Dry Goods.
I’ve learned a lot from this outfit exercise, but mostly that I have given Varga a lot of money.
