Romance Cruise, Next Stop: Paris, France

By Annie from Under the Covers

Paris, France – the City of Love! As a romance reader I just adore books that are set in Paris. Maybe it’s the Frenchmen, the delicious food or perhaps it’s just the sexy language. There’s just so much to love about books set in this city. So, next on our Romance Cruise we are making a stop in Paris, capital city of France.

In our Paris trip I want to show you the wonders of the city by recommending some of my favourite books that are set there. All of these books have romance in them. Some series may be all set in Paris whereas with one or two, only one particular book is set in the city. Nevertheless, the setting certainly adds something to the romantic feel of the book, so let’s get started, shall we?

Destined for an Early Grave by Jeaniene Frost

Unfortunately, I haven’t read too many Urban Fantasies set in Paris, which makes this one all the more special. When Cat and Bones head to Paris for a holiday, things quickly take a dark turn as unexpected events occur. Cat and Bones are one of the sexiest couples and all their books get your heart racing not only over the brilliant action packed plots, but because of the incredible chemistry between the pair. However, only this particular book is set in Paris, but I do recall this being one of my favorites in the series because of it.

Sweet Filthy Boy by Christina Lauren

This book is all about summer romance and what’s more romantic than a summer romance in Paris! In this book, Mia follows her hot fling, Ansel, to Paris and let me tell you, it’s a scorcher! I would definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for something more light-hearted and fun.

The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley

If I was naming one of my favourite characters and favourite romances of all time than The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley would hit that list pretty high up. Ian Mackenzie is a scandalous Scottish aristocrat who spent most of his childhood in an asylum and many suspect of murder. And yes, he’s a little…odd. But, he’s also intriguing, fierce in his love and sharply intelligent. So, watching him seduce his Beth in Paris and in the most scandalous ways and places had me glued to the screen. I guarantee you will be to if you give it a try.

The Chocolate Thief by Laura Florand

When it comes to books set in Paris, Laura Florand is the one that first comes to mind. The entire Amour et Chcolate (Love and Chocolate) series is set in Paris and has a lovely, authentic feel to it. These books tend to be more heart-felt so I would highly suggest picking it up if you’re in the mood for something that hits home. There’s also a good number of French lines in it, perfect if you’re a native speaker.

Curio by Cara McKenna

As the only Erotic Romance series set in Paris on this list, I was a little surprised that there weren’t more I’ve read. However, McKenna has always been a go-to author when it comes to the genre and with this series, she does not disappoint. This series is a set of vignettes, so they’re not very long at all. However, there’s tons of emotional and character development within these pages. I would highly recommend this book if you’re wanting something a little outside the box. Plus, it’s seriously sexy too.

Anna & the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

This book is the only Young Adult novel on the list. However, it’s one of the most romantic. Thousands of people have fallen in love with this series and there’s good reason. With its gentle approach to first love, this story really is a wonderful one that captures the essence of the city as a girl travels to Paris to go to boarding school.

A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole

If you haven’t picked up the Immortal After Dark series by Kresley Cole then you are missing out. A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole is the first in the series and begins in Paris, where an imprisoned Lykae king finally sniffs out his mate. It finally gives him the mindless strength to rip out of his unbreakable bonds and go on the hunt in the streets of Paris. Arrogant, gorgeous, powerful, all of these describe Lachlain. Reading this book got me hooked on this series, if you like your paranormal romances with plenty of humour, then Cole’s snarky, bad ass heroines are for you. If you also like your paranormal romances with dirty talking, possessive heroes who know their way around the bedroom…shower…forest floor than this one is also for you!

About the Author

I’m an obsessive makeup junkie and a compulsive reader. When it comes to books I’m pretty adventurous. I read everything from Paranormal Romance to Urban Fantasy, New Adult, BDSM, LGBT fiction, Cozy Mysteries and even YA. If it’s got the littlest trace of romance in it, then I’ll probably read it.
