[Note from Frolic: We’re stoked to have author Kristen Proby guest post on the site today. Her new royal romance, Enchanting Sebastian, is out now!]

I’ve wanted to write a royal book for YEARS. More years than I can count, actually. I’ve devoured all of the royal novels I could get my greedy little hands on, and let me tell you, there aren’t enough of them out there.

I mean, there are quite a few, but as far as I’m concerned, there are never enough.

My obsession with the royal family began when I was six years old and my mother woke me up in the wee hours of the morning to watch the Royal Wedding. Princess Diana, with her gorgeous tiara and 25-foot train was a sight I’ll never forget. That dress! Gah, there was just nothing like it.

My mom pointed out all of the members of the royal family, and explained who was who, how they were related.

I remember, as we watched with rapt attention, falling in love with fairy tales, right then and there.

And now, here I am, writing a dirty variety of fairy tales for a living. It’s funny how things work out, isn’t it?

I can honestly say that I’ve set my alarm for the middle of the night and watched every televised royal wedding since Princess Diana and Prince Charles, and every time, I make an event out of it.

Tea? Check.

Scones? Check.

I text with my friends, who are also obsessed with the royals, and we talk about the guests, who’s wearing what, and the HATS!!

Oh my goodness, the British do have a way with hats, don’t they?

Just typing this makes me wish for a royal engagement, so I could get ready to watch another wedding.

I think it was after watching Harry and Meghan wed last year that the idea of a royal trilogy set in my Big Sky universe began to take root in my mind. And once Sebastian introduced himself, it was full speed ahead!

So, while I wait for a royal announcement, let’s chat about other royal books that I’ve enjoyed. In fact, if you haven’t read these, you MUST rush out and grab a copy!

Royally Screwed by Emma Chase

Oh, how I wish Nick was real! This book seemed to fly by, the pages turning themselves as I devoured this incredible story. As with most of Emma’s books, the hilarity level is at a 10, and with it she brings sexy heat, and a whole bunch of heart.

The Cordelia’s Royal Family collection by Nora Roberts

Okay, so I’m cheating. This is actually a series of four books, all about royal siblings, and let me just say here and now that although they were originally written in the 80’s, it still holds up. I’ve read these novels several times over the years, and they just never get old.

Suddenly Royal by Nichole Chase

I love it when a “commoner” gets the prince, don’t you? I can’t help it. So when a book features an every-day girl next door who manages to catch the eye of a sexy prince, well, I’m in. This story has fun, witty banter, and lots of chemistry!

The Controversial Princess by Jodi Ellen Malpas

Scandal and steam, featuring a badass princess? Yes, please! Sign me up! I LOVE THIS BOOK! In fact, I believe I’ll go read it again.

Enchanting Sebastian by Kristen Proby (Yours truly!)

I couldn’t make this list and NOT include Prince Sebastian, could I? I sincerely love these two characters. Sebastian is what you’d expect a prince to be. He’s polished, he’s privileged, but he’s also kind, sexy and SO SEXY! Yes, I said sexy twice. And Nina is wrestling with demons, and suddenly finds herself engaged to a prince. I have to say, I enjoyed watching Sebastian as he helped Nina steer her way through some rough waters. He’s a patient man, our prince.

I hope you enjoy Enchanting Sebastian as much as I enjoyed writing it!

About the Author:

Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.

During that time, Kristen wrote many romance novels and joined organizations such as RWA and other small writing groups. She spent countless hours in workshops, and more mornings than she can count up before the dawn so she could write before going to work. She submitted many manuscripts to agents and editors alike, but was always told no. In the summer of 2012, the self-publishing scene was new and thriving, and Kristen had one goal: to publish just one book. It was something she longed to cross off of her bucket list.

Not only did she publish one book, she’s since published more than thirty titles, many of which have hit the USA Today, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists.

Kristen and her husband, John, make their home in her hometown in Montana with their pug and two cats.

Enchanting Sebastian by Kristen Proby, out now!

The first in an all new stand-alone trilogy set in Kristen Proby’s Big Sky world, Enchanting Sebastian will take your breath away!

Turning thirty-five doesn’t mean much to most men. For Sebastian Wakefield, it’s the end of life as he knows it.
When your father is the King of England, thirty-five is the year that a marriage will be arranged, a suitable bride cementing a future you didn’t choose. The obvious solution for escaping the archaic laws of the throne is for Sebastian to leave the country. And where better to go than America?

Nina Wolfe has spent her career avoiding scandal. As a Hollywood publicist and minor celebrity in her own right, she knows exactly what it takes to keep the media at bay—and what will send them into a frenzy.

Prince Sebastian hiding out in Cunningham Falls, Montana is an unlikely story. Ending up in his bed, even more so. And keeping their arrangement out of the press might just be impossible. The ring on her finger is about to spark a firestorm that will change her life, and no professional spin will help Nina fit into the world of royalty.

Only love could write an enchanting new beginning—if they’ll let themselves fall.
