I get so excited when a #ThrowBackThursday falls on an actual holiday, especially when it is one of my favorite holidays of the season! Halloween is a happy time, it’s not encumbered by the potential stress and family nonsense that can happen with other holidays. Nope, Halloween is pure spooky goodness with a big side of candy to delight even the grumpiest of spirits.

This #TBT is focused on not just books that could be linked to the general holiday theme, oh no today’s #TBT is celebrating full-on Halloween in all of its mystery and glory. I searched my reading logs and found several books that fit the Halloween bill. First, I’d like to give Mating the Huntress by Talia Hibbert, a big shout out. Mating the Huntress bites back hard! Chastity knows a monster when she sees one, and Luke may as well have a neon light flashing above his head. In your classic story of boy meets girl, sprouts extra fur to impress, and girl decides it’s her job to cut his heart out literally; I mean, what could possibly go wrong?!!? And did I mention a full moon to really give us the icing on the cake? This Halloween-centric forbidden romance is truly lust at first sight!

There are a few authors I follow on Instagram that embrace Halloween as much, if not more than I do. Tiffany Reisz and her husband Andrew Shaffer are tried and true lovers of the ‘ween. It’s only fitting to give Reisz a double shout out in today’s #TBT recommendations.

Mischief has one of my all-time favorite covers. Is it too late to ask the Halloween Fairy to leave a framed copy of it in my spooky spider web? This book is part of the Original Sinners series, it’s #8.3 if you’re keeping score. If you’re familiar with this series, you know that Nora has a young lover, Nico, who…well, given his lineage, had me at hello, much like he had Nora! (if you haven’t read the series, no spoilers on said lineage!) Nico has never celebrated a real American Halloween, so in delicious Nora fashion, she summons her young love to the most Halloweenie-ist of towns, Salem, Massachusetts. She promises him candy, sex, and mischief. During their delicious two-night stay, they also encounter a ghosty tale to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Not to be outdone, Her Halloween Treat is also a top recommendation on my list. Joey Silvia received a nasty trick, not a treat; her boyfriend of two freaking years is married. That has to be the Necco wafers of dirty tricks. Joey has a firm belief that the best way to get over a man is to get under another, but she realizes her options are limited when she decides to lick her wounds in her family’s remote cabin in Oregon. Joey thinks all sexytime hope is lost until handyman Chris Steffensen shows up at her door. Boy howdy, when did her brother’s best friend grow up and who decided he could show out like that? And where did that dirty mouth come from? Be still my trick or treating heart. This might end up being more than a simple Halloween fling.

Her Halloween Treat gives us a friends to lovers, lumbersexual, brother’s best friend, sexy, funny delight. It’s all the tropes wrapped up in one delicious treat!
