It’s a little known fact that today, February 27th, is Polar Bear Day. With so much focus on climate change issues, I figured today is a great day to support the celebration of all things Polar Bear…shifters! That’s right, it’s totally a thing, and I am here for it! Polar bears are the world’s largest carnivores. They can grow up to nine feet tall and 1400 pounds. We do tend to love our heroes tall, don’t we? Heaven knows I’ve made plenty a lousy decision simply because a man is tall. What is it about tall? I’m getting all flustered just thinking about it! Anyway, polar bear shifters, you’ve gotta love ‘em. They are tall and lumbering and fiercely protective, and honestly, who better to cuddle up with on a cold winter’s night? They certainly know their way around a snowstorm!

There are tons of bear shifter books and a surprising amount of polar bear specific tales. Eve Langlais’ Kodiak Point series has everything from Moose to Caribou shifters, but for me, the highlight is Polar Bared. The tag line for this series had me at hello, “Welcome to Kodiak Point, where the wildlife might wear clothes, but animal instinct rules the heart.” In Polar Bared, Gene is a veteran out for vengeance against the brothers in arms that betrayed him and left him in danger. Revenge is all he has on his mind until the very human, very geeky, incredibly beautiful Vicky crashes into him, literally. His protective instincts kick in when he realizes she’s in danger and suddenly, vengeance takes a backseat to love. Now he just has to keep her safe.

If it’s a series full of polar bears that tickles your fancy, I’d like to suggest you check out Vivian Arend’s Borealis Bear series. The grandfather of three polar bear shifters is up to his meddling ways. He wants his grandsons mated tout de suite, which is good because their mating fevers, the time they bond with their fated mate, is fast approaching. James, Alex, and Cooper do not like being told what to do. They are determined to mate only when and how they want. But, can they fight fate? Oh man, fated mate polar bear stories with a meddling elder for the win!

The Bear’s Chosen Mate is the youngest Borealis brother James’ story. He is the PR powerhouse of Borealis Gems, he’s loud and proud and lets it all hang out, Kaylee is a shy quiet bobcat shifter with a ton of family baggage she’d rather keep under wraps. Kaylee also has 100% friend-zoned James, and he has his work cut out for him. This is a friends to lovers story, well, once the mating fever kicks in and he convinces her, they can be more than friends, of course.

The Bear’s Fated Mate is a bit of an enemy to lovers romp, to say the very least. Alex is the head of security for Borealis Gems, and his intel suggests something big is threatening his family’s company. His main suspect is a wolf shifter, Lara. She’s also the youngest daughter of his company’s main competitor. Both Alex and Lara can scent the attraction and fated mate pull, but both are not happy about it at all. I mean sure, burning up the sheets is all fine and well, but forever is not in their game plan. Lucky for them the mating fever knows best and takes no shit from reluctant partners!

Recently released, The Bear’s Forever Mate is the final book in this trilogy. Cooper is the head of Borealis Gems, and he, unlike his brothers, is all in for the concept of fated mates. Too bad the woman he wants is human. Amber has been looking for her lost brother for two years and also, on the side, of course, falling hard for Cooper. She is down with the mating fever bond, but things can never go that smoothly for Amber, can they? Some mysterious force ends up blocking their bond, sending Amber and Cooper on a race against time.

That’s four polar bear books I strongly recommend you check out for this year’s Polar Bear Day. Do something good for the environment and read a polar bear shifter book, you can thank me later!
