For those who haven’t probably realized it yet…I’m a huge fangirl! So, when Frolic was invited to cover Megacon 2019 in Orlando, Florida, my husband and I packed up the car for a weekend of fun and unique experiences that a true pop culture and comics fan can enjoy.

From unique cosplayers, to awesome vendors and celebrity meet-and-greets, Megacon was a wonderful pop culture experience, one that I excitedly donned my Captain Marvel leggings and tee for!

Below are my top three reasons why you should visit Megacon 2020 (slated for April of next year) and any other con where you can let your geek flag fly high.

#1 The Cosplays

Once we arrived on Saturday and stood in line to enter the con at 10 am, we were wowed by the unique cosplayers that we encountered. From Wonder Woman to Harley Quinn and even some mash-ups, like a Captain Marvel “Lolita” that looked just like 80s cartoon Rainbow Bright, the con is a great spot to make new friends and nerd out about your favorite characters. Feeling truly unique? You can even walk the con “cosplay red carpet” to get a professional picture taken that will forever capture your epic outfit that many spend countless hours preparing. Playing dress up? Yes, please!

#2 The Artist Alley

If you love shopping for unique items, Megacon’s Artist Alley is the way to go. From unique hand-crafted and sewn nerdy totes featuring Star Wars and Marvel characters, to painted-on shoes and even jewelry, you can find anything your geeky heart desires that you cannot find anywhere else. My favorite finds included magnetic bookmarks by JLynn Paper Co, where I snagged a Daenerys “Mother of Dragons” bookmark representing Game of Thrones and even a candle where I can pay my respects to Captain Marvel from The Altar Egos. Check out their shops on Etsy and Instagram!

#3 Meeting Celebrities

Who knew Arrow’s Stephen Amell would happily accept hand-written letters from my 10th graders? “Thank you for these, they are very thoughtful,” he said as I visited his booth with a huge, handsome smile. And, who knew Shazam star Zachary Levi is truly over six-foot-three and loves giving fans hugs? I know, because I was able to meet them this past weekend at Megacon. Epic Photo Opps offers the change for you to get a professional picture with your favorite celebs and many of them are available in their booths ready to say hi and sign autographs for a set fee. And, even take selfies! Definitely, a winning experience that you will never forget.

Thinking of attending next year? Check out https://www.megaconorlando.com/en/home.html and stay updated on the geeky event for April 2020! And, tweet at us at @OnFrolic and at me at @AuroraMiami on who you plan to cosplay as!
