To explain a little about what this post will be about, every Trope Tuesday post starts with the same introduction. In every romance book you read there are tropes or archetypes you find inside its pages. You can also see them in shows, movies, plays, etc. Every type of entertainment and media. Romantic tropes are everywhere, and they are fabulous. I adore them and I always tend to find my favorite ones in romance books so I can enjoy them even more. Trope Tuesday is a weekly column where I share books that I know people will enjoy with a specific central trope.

What is a trope? Urban Dictionary explains it best: “Despite the erroneous definitions already published here, trope on the interwebs really refers to an often overused plot device. It can also be described as another variation on the same theme. TV shows, movies, comics, games, anime’, & books are full of tropes & many rabid fan-sites now name & track said tropes with a self-explanatory title for each one.” We can name a few: accidental pregnancy, best friends to lovers, sibling’s best friend, marriage of convenience, and so many more. Your favorite couples? They probably got a trope too! It’s always so nice to realize or find out your favorite romance trope and keep searching for books with the same theme. So really? I’m just helping you find that new favorite book of yours. If ever you want a post on a trope I haven’t done yet, do drop me a tweet at @thebookvoyagers and let me know!

It’s time for a nerdy romance. In fact, I have six nerdy romance books that you will highly enjoy, no doubt! Nerdy romances grab me in a way that other tropes don’t. You know it’s going to be cute and geek-y and soft. You know it’s going to have awesome moments between our main couple playing some games, cosplaying (yes!), talking about movies or popular TV shows, etc. It gets me so very happy and thrilled to see a couple talking about a show I also enjoy or a game I also play. It makes me relate so hard and feel connected to these characters and this story even more.

We also love nerdy couples together and most of these romance books below have them and you won’t stop swooning over them. We adore complete series, trilogies, duologies, that have as their main theme a nerdy concept. So you won’t stop reading about them and just continue on to the next book, even if they all are standalones.

So get ready, grab a cup of coffee or your choice of beverage and enjoy these nerdy romances.

A Girl Like Her by Talia Hibbert

Talia Hibbert’s books are love songs to the romance world. Each and every single one of them writes a beautiful poem that showcase the greatness of a romance book. A Girl Like Her is a great example.

Ruth is a comic book artist and a wonderful main protagonist. She’s on the autism spectrum, cranky and likes to be left alone. Though her next-door neighbor doesn’t understand that last part and he likes to bring her food every chance he gets. It’s a wonderful thing to see (and read) this relationship grow and be there to experience that with them.

Team Phison by Chace Verity

You might be tired of me  always mentioning this title but this romance just makes me feel all gooey inside. With its low angst story and adorable couple, Team Phison is that book you pick up whenever you are feeling sad and want a pick-me-up. It does that for me. Or whenever I am feeling the book slump coming, it always makes me stand back up. But I’m not just mentioning it because I absolutely love it, but also because it is definitely a nerdy romance. This time around we have a videogame as the reason for this meet cute. Our favorite couple meets through a videogame playthrough and hit it off quickly. They live far away from each other so you definitely see the long distance aspect. Chace is a genius writer and this book will stay in your favorites for a very long time.

Can’t Escape Love by Alyssa Cole

It’s not a secret that I am a big Alyssa Cole fan. This little novella is part of the Reluctant Royals series and I’m so happy to share it with you all if you haven’t yet read it. Can’t Escape Love is the nerdiest romance in the whole wide world and you won’t get enough of it. Falling madly in love with Regina and Gus without even starting it? It happens.

You see Gus is tasked to create an escape room themed around a romance anime. But he doesn’t know anything about anime. Or romance. Enter mega-nerd and anime expert Reggie Hobbs. This is where things get fun and where you start to see how connected our main characters really are. Because Reggie has insomnia and the only thing that helps her is listening to the voice of her favorite puzzle-obsessed live streamer Gustave aka our Gus. But suddenly his archives are gone. So Gus needs help creating his escape room and Reggie needs help sleeping. *wink wink*

Well Met by Jen DeLuca

Debut author Jen DeLuca is about to makes us all obsess over a Renaissance Faire. It has a hate to love romance so *my thing* already. But it’s also really freaking fun. The dynamic between Emily and Simon is so fun to read. Simon’s family legacy is this Ren-Faire and he doesn’t want any new volunteer to mess things up. But whenever he’s in full costume, he acts differently, like flirting freely with Emily. Is it something more or is he only playing a part? You will have to read and find out!

Dirty Sexy Scot by Melissa Blue

Another one of my favorites is Melissa Blue. And she also writes pretty nerdy romances that will make you swoon so hard. Most of the time her protagonists are nerds at heart and I relate so much to them because so am I. Pop culture, comic books, anime, manga, you name it, I’m a fan. So it’s not a surprise that Mia Jones owned my heart.

Mia is a pop culture fangirl. She’s a travel podcaster, going from town to town, in search of tourists traps and fan conventions. She’s not ready to meet this Scottish veteran but life just works that way. Our hard on the outside, soft on the inside Kincaid starts communicating with Mia via emails after meeting at a con.

You know Melissa Blue won’t let you down in terms of nerdiness and romance. I find myself craving more and more each time I read a book by her

She’s Got Game by Laura Heffernan

This new romance series will sweep you off your feet. It features a board game competition. Who doesn’t love that already? I find that theme in this book so intriguing and fun to read about because I absolutely adore board games and want to play Monopoly every single day of my life. We all know it’s so competitive with your friends. Imagine playing with strangers and it features a competitive atmosphere with a prize at the end. The heroine is a travel blogger and our hero is a four-time champ in this competition.

Things are about to get dirty.
