Trope Rec Tuesday: The Tech That Romanced Us

To explain a little about what this post will be about, I’m taking the intro I did for the last one: In every romance book you read there are tropes or archetypes. You can also see them in shows, movies, plays, etc. Romantic tropes are everywhere, and they are fabulous. I adore them and I always tend to find my favorite ones in romance books so I can enjoy them more. I decided to do a sort of Trope Tuesday piece where I will be talking about many tropes and recommend you all some of my favorites that fit.

What is a trope? Urban Dictionary explains it best I think: “Despite the erroneous definitions already published here, tropeon the interwebs really refers to an often overused plot device. It can also be described as another variation on the same theme. TV shows, movies, comics, games, anime’, & books are full of tropes & many rabid fan-sites now name & track said tropes with a self-explanatory title for each one.” We can name a few: accidental pregnancy, best friends to lovers, sibling’s best friend, marriage of convenience, and so many more for sure. Your favorite couples? They probably got a trope too! It’s always so nice to realize or find out your favorite romance trope and keep searching for books with the same theme.

Technology geniuses in romance fiction is the way to go to be honest. Cute main characters or love interests who love technology and do that for a living, or just as a side-hobby. Anything involving tech is a win-win in this case. Hackers, app-developers, entrepreneurs… We do find a lot of them in romance novels and I love seeing the growth they have had in the recent years. CEOs in technologic empires? Give them all to me, thank u, next.

So if you love tech and romance mix together, you are in for a treat today.

Love On My Mind by Tracey Livesay

This is the romance of your dreams! PR executive Chelsea goes undercover to help turn tech CEO Adam into a media darling instead of being that reclusive computer genius everyone keeps talking about. “Sexiest geek alive”? Oh yeah. But Adam doesn’t know the real reason for their meeting after that storm brought them together, and Adam’s company wants to keep that secret.

Tracey Livesay made me fall in love with her writing with this story and I bet you will fall too.

Trade Me by Courtney Milan

If you haven’t read Courtney Milan what are you doing!! Trade Me really is the best way to start (but all of Courtney’s books are A+).

It tells the story of Tina and Blake and their trade. Tina only wants a degree and a job so her parents don’t worry about rent ever again. On the other side, we have Blake, the heir to a very big and very rich tech company. When he makes an off-hand comment, Tina tells him he wouldn’t be able to live her life. To her surprise, Blake proposes a trade: she will get his income, life, car and more. And he will work her hours and send the money to her parents. But before long, they’re trading more than that.

Chain Reaction by Zoe Archer

If you’re in need of a SFF romance with a tech geek hero, Chain Reaction is what you’re looking for.

Elite pilot Celene is looking for the man who made a device that once upon a time disabled her ship’s control. She’s ready to exact her revenge. But the higher-ups think differently and hire her a new mission partner named Nick, a tech-head who can understand the missing device. The desire between them is unexpected but it will be a welcomed surprise…

Brooklynaire by Sarina Bowen

A tech billionaire, owner of a hockey team and his personal assistant. She’s perfect; she manages his hockey team and she knows she does it perfectly. But there is a problem: he cannot stop thinking about her. Whenever he smells her perfume, he’s done for. After a wild one night stand, things become awkward, but is that better than not taking a chance?

Nate and Rebecca have appeared in the previous books and this romance story is definitely highly anticipated after you knew them before. They’ve knows each other for at least 7 years ago so you know there is history there. Don’t you just love that?

Takeover by Anna Zabo

A one night stand is all they needed. Until Sam finds out Michael is one of his new employees. Takeover has Sam as the new CEO of a failing tech company and Michael the new employee working under him. Michael wants Sam but he knows he shouldn’t get involved with the boss. So it has become rather complicated, has it not?

Signal Boost by Alyssa Cole

This dystopian novel is perfect as your next read. When technology has stopped working, the world changes drastically for all people who have survived. Meet John. His loved ones have survived but in a world with no tech and as a techie, really, he’s pretty much useless right now. Even though his cabin is filled with people, he feels rather alones. Until Mykhail, an astrophysics student, is found raiding his garden.

You just can’t miss an Alyssa Cole book. That’s the law!
