TV Shows You Forgot About That are Totally Worth a Re-Watch

There are certain shows that just stick with us. We all remember where we were and who we were watching with when the identity of Gossip Girl was finally revealed and whose hand we held during the Grey’s Anatomy plane crash episode. Most of us are spending a lot of time at home right now so it’s the perfect time to take a little trip down memory lane and revisit some of our favorite TV shows from the past.

The Tudors

If you are into period pieces and you haven’t watched this show, I need you to stop what you’re doing right now and proceed to your nearest tv and hunker down. In this crazy, steamy, and downright binge-worthy show, we get to experience all the “splendor and scandal” of England’s most notorious bad boy, King Henry VIII. Equal parts glitzy and gritty, you’ll be picking up your jaw off the floor several times even though we all know a lot that went down back then. Remember, this is historical fiction, so ya know, there are parts that are skimmed over and embellished. BONUS: Jonathan Rhys Myers and Henry Cavill yuckin’ it up and making all the ladies swoon.

The West Wing

Calling all my fellow political nerds! You guys, The West Wing was (and still is) and master class in political tv dramas. The star-studded cast includes Martin Sheen, Allison Janney, Rob Lowe, and Kristin Chenoweth (just to name a few). While the series ended in 2006, the team still tackled issues that are very much still relevant today. The fast paced dialogue and subtle comedy is just what we need to escape but also keep our brains fresh right now.

Weeds

Yo, Weeds is the wildest of wild rides. I mean, if you heard “suburban mother sells marijuana to her affluent neighbors to maintain her comfortable lifestyle after her husband’s sudden death” and weren’t even the slightest bit intrigued, then I’m not sure what to tell you. Mary Louise Parker is the ultimate HBIC and her ever present iced coffee will have you craving one the entire time you watch.

Friday Night Lights

Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Can’t stop staring at Tim Riggins in those football pants. I mean, if you know, you know. You don’t have to be a fan of football to fall in love with this show. And I mean that with my whole heart. Sure, small town football is the focus here, but throw in the drama that surrounds it and you will not be able to stop watching once you start. And if that wasn’t enough to pique your interest, the show stars Kyle Chandler, Taylor Kitsch, Zach Gilford, and Queen Connie Britton.

Revenge

It takes quite the mastermind to insert herself into the lives of the Hamptons elite and gain respect and admiration, only to exact revenge on the people who wronged her father, but that’s exactly what Emily Thorne does in this juicy and drama filled show. Inspired by The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, this one will have you on the edge of your seat the whole time!

Parenthood

Make sure you have the tissues near if you dive into this one and I one hundred percent do not recommend watching while pregnant like my dumbass did. But man, oh man, I LOVE the Braverman family and miss them like crazy. The story centers around the four adult Braverman children and how they deal with the highs and lows of Parenthood, Adulthood, sibling rivalry, and everything in between. Gilmore Girls fans will LOVE Lauren Graham in this one!

One Tree Hill

The CW has given us countless gems over the years, but quite possibly the best was One Tree Hill. Another show that centers around a sport (basketball this time) but does not require you to enjoy the sport at all to love the show. We got one of the hunkiest heartthrobs of the 2000’s, Chad Michael Murray in all his broody glory. Throw in James Lafferty as his spoiled, rich, and (surprise!) half brother, and you’ve got a plot so thick that it literally will not quit. Also, you totally started singing the theme song, “I Don’t Wanna Be” by Gavin DeGraw didn’t you?

I hope one of these will help you escape and make your days a little brighter.
