Smart Podcast, Trashy Books: 478. The Magic of Interactive Fiction with Rebecca Slitt from Heart’s Choice

Amanda and I take a deep dive into interactive fiction with Rebecca Slitt from Choice of Games and Heart’s Choice. We get into the details of how interactive fiction works, and what the process of writing it is like – and we have some recommendations, never fear!

Lit Wallflowers: Bombshell Interview with Sarah MacLean

New York Times, Washington Post, and USA Today bestselling romance novelist, romance columnist, and podcaster Sarah MacLean spoke to us!

This interview was full of spoilers so our fangirl selves including Natalie of @kissandletmetellyou, could ask revealing questions and get the answers that would bring joy to our heart!

We dive into writing the book and touch upon topics within the genre. We talk about historical accuracy and she can prove her ideas happened in the past. And for pervy human history, we can follow Sarah and listen to Jessica Cale’s Dirty, Sexy History podcast!

We would be remiss if we did not bring up #Munrowatch and Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series. We even found out about a version of Brazen and the Beast with an edited #IAD reference.

If you do know designer Christian Siriano, please refer Sarah to him for friendship and a Hell’s Belles fashion line.

If you know anyone in the film industry, Sarah is ready for a meeting. The soundtrack has already been made by her and her husband Eric!

Then we had to play Who’d You Rather and F*ck, Marry, Kill Sarah MacLean and IAD edition. If biting is your kink, who would you choose?

We hope we asked a question that scratched an itch. Join us as we discuss Bombshell with the “gracefully furious” Sarah MacLean!

P.S. Imogen Loveless’ biggest fan and the other half of Fated Mates, Jen Prokop is taking commissions to edit your book with her fascinating and thoughtful insights! Check out her www.jenreadsromance.com for contact info!

Julia Quinn’s Two Dukes of Wyndham with @romantically_swept_away: The Two Dukes of Wyndham series by Julia Quinn was a delight to read one after the other!

In “The Lost Duke of Wyndham,” highwayman Jack turned out to be the true duke. His cranky, dowager duchess grandmother just needed proof of legitimacy, but first she needed to catch him. It was his attachment to Grace, the dowager’s companion, who he would give up the dukedom for.

In “Mr. Cavendish, I Presume,” the current duke, Thomas, was potentially going to lose his dukedom and lose Amelia, his long standing fiancée who he finally started having feelings for.

If you want humor, book one is for you. If you want angst, book two is for you. The two books happen concurrently and have a lot of the same dialogue so we suggest reading both. Join us as we discuss the Two Dukes of Wyndham!

Honestly!?: Episode #188 – Honk If You’re Horny For Cryptids

On this week’s episode we’re kicking off our 2021 Halloween Spooktacular and talking all about cryptids! Join us as we discuss whether Mothman is a harbinger of doom or simply misunderstood, which cryptids we’d swipe right for on Tinder, and more!

First Cup of Coffee with Jeffe Kennedy: September 29, 2021

I go long today talking mostly to the authors out there about buying ads, marketing, and promo – and why putting time, money and attention into writing instead will not only make you happier but more successful in the long run.

First Cup of Coffee – October 4, 2021: Some changes in how traditional publishing is treating submissions, especially those on spec, even from established authors, and a discussion of how advances work, when authors get paid, and why 4+ book deals aren’t great.

First Cup of Coffee – October 5, 2021: Body image and how that’s influenced by Instagram and other media like women’s magazines, how physical attraction, “instalove” and ageism play into that – along with some spoilers for my recent book.
Big Gay Fiction Podcast: Episode 336 – 3 Romance Reviews, 4 Musical Reviews and a Preview of October

Jeff and Will review their recent reads: “Under the Whispering Door” by TJ Klune, “Drawing Lines” by Jeris Jean, and “Busy Ain’t the Half Of It” by Frederick Smith & Chaz Lamar Cruz. In addition, books coming in the first half of October are previewed, including titles by Casey Cox, May Archer, Macy Blake, KD Casey, J.M. Dabney, Farhad J. Dadyburjor, Amiee Nicole Walker, and Briar Prescott. The filmed musicals “Diana,” “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie,” “Come From Away” and “Dear Evan Hansen” are discussed.

Episode 337 – In Conversation with Adriana Herrera, Frederick Smith and Chaz Lamar Cruz: Jeff & Will present a conversation that took place between authors Frederick Smith, Chaz Lamar Cruz and Adriana Herrera. The event was part of the book tour for Frederick and Chaz’s book “Busy Ain’t The Half Of It.” Adriana talked with Fredrick and Chaz about the book and their co-writing experience, including how the process changed since the first book they wrote together. They also discussed reading and writing books with Black characters, the importance of diversity in books and media, and the impact Lil Nas X has had on music and pop culture.

Kingdom of Thirst: Episode 54: Listener Special

It’s KoT’s one year anniversary, babes and buds! To celebrate, Abigail and Paige Hughes present to you what is perhaps the single most NSFW episode we’ve ever made. Bits include mistranslated sex scenes from ICE PLANET BARBARIANS and A HUNGER LIKE NO OTHER, Two Romance Novels and a Lie, and Olde Timey Euphemisms for Genitals. There’s also a Q&A sprinkled throughout, so… I guess it’s not all nasty?
