Happy New Year! And, happy Season four with author Cathy Maxwell who we have always wanted to cover. We are starting with “His Secret Mistress” in preparation for the upcoming release for the Logical Man’s Guide to Dangerous Women series.
Brandon Balfour, frustrated for possibly not getting a commission, left London for the country. Actually, he was already summoned to Maidenshop by his sister, the dramatic dowager Duchess because her son, his guardian, has fallen for an actress. Although he assures his sister that it is common to dally with an actress as a new adult, her description is familiar so he rushed to find his nephew and the older woman.
Kate Addison was on her way to fulfill her dream. Years of touring the country and saving allows her to return to London and perform with her troupe. However, one of her wagon’s broke down and Duke Winderton offered she camp on his lands while repairs are made, and while he falls more in lust with her and she becomes more annoyed by him.
Brandon approaches the troupe’s encampment and recognizes Kate, the reason he left London long ago. Kate can’t believe who she’s seeing, the source of her hurt and shame. So, what does she do? She pretends she does not know him while he tells her to leave his nephew alone and leave Maidenshop.
