Lit Wallflowers: Ravenels – Chasing Cassandra – With @dizzyfordizi

This week, we’re reviewing (while Tom is) “Chasing Cassandra” by Lisa Kleypas!

We love Tom! The man who said he had a total of five emotions, however every time he does something great for Cassandra, more emotions were shown. He’s even showing emotion to his youngest employee, but he doesn’t know it yet.

From the moment Tom saw Cassandra, he was a goner. Time apart only made the heart grow fonder. When the opportunity came up to buy a newspaper company for her, he would negotiate until she became his sweetheart.

Cassandra being a sweetheart was a great influence on Tom. He may not see the right course of actions for personal healing or the morals of books, however, he’s open to her feelings and thoughts.

Love changes a person. We would care and do things we normally would not do when we love someone. Join the ladies as they discuss how love grew and will continue to multiply between two oysters until forever!

First Cup of Coffee with Jeffe Kennedy
First Cup of Coffee with Jeffe Kennedy: July 23, 2021

How working slowly doesn’t mean higher quality output, how what creators love best isn’t always (or often) what their audience loves best or will buy, and how decoupling these ideas can be important for creative careers.

First Cup of Coffee – June 26, 2021: Why asking presenters to “graciously donate” their time creates a problem just by asking, and other thoughts on the price of volunteering, business models predicated on low or no pay, and how it disproportionately affects marginalized groups.

First Cup of Coffee – June 27, 2021: Examining the trope of the Reluctant King (are there ever Reluctant Queens??) and what we’re really trying to show with that characterization. Also some interesting comments I’ve gotten on paying presenters.

First Cup of Coffee – July 29, 2021:I’m going full rant today because I’m just baffled by the bizarre responses – and cray pushback I’m getting – for daring to suggest writers should be paid fair value. And I’m emphasizing, people, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WORK FOR FREE.
