Read a book set in a small town: Ghost Squad by Claribel Ortega

Think of this book as your Latinx Gilmore Girls filled with pastelitos and flan instead of pop tarts and cake! Don’t Date Rosa Santos is a multigenerational story that perfectly embodies the complicated nature of mother-daughter relationships. The book will warm your heart like a cup of Cuban espresso.

Read a book set during fall/winter: The City Baker’s Guide to Country Living by Louise Miller

This book is high on my Gilmore Girls readathon list because Gilly fans have stated that this is one of the ultimate books to read if you want to read a book that feels like the show. The story is about a big-city baker who escapes to the idyllic neighborhood of Guthrie, Vermont, and gets a job offer from the Sugar Maple Inn (Hello Dragonfly Inn!) and she begins creating her delicious desserts and even enters an adorable apple pie contest! I have a feeling this story has Stars Hollow vibes written all over it!

**Read a book with complicated love interests: Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas**

What can be more complicated than falling in love with a ghost?! The relationship between these two Latinx teens is a hate to love, and it develops into a slow-burn queer romance. I love how the relationship develops between Julian and Yadriel and how they look out and care for one another. The NYT bestseller is the perfect fall story to read on a rainy day with excellent trans/Latinx representation and Dia de Muertos magic.

**Read a book by an Asian author/has Asian representation: Anna K by Jenny Lee**

This is a love story that is a reimagining of Anna Karenina. Anna’s description reminds me of Lane in Gilmore Girls because they live their lives to please other people instead of making themselves happy. If you are looking for a Gossip Girl kind of book Anna K is the ultimate escape to get you through the holiday stress.

**Read the next book in a series you haven’t finished (Inspired by Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life): Children of Virtue and Vengeance (Legacy of Orisha, #2) by Tomi Adeyemi**

I am notorious for not finishing a book series, and there are many I could list in my TBR. Children of Blood and Bone captivated me from beginning to end because the characters are flawed, brave, and beautiful, all at the same time. There is nothing like reading a fantasy book during the fall season, and Children of Virtue and Vengeance is the perfect book to get lost in an adventure to secure magic in the land of Orisha again.
