What to Read

Everything Neal Shusterman Writes is Just So Good

Neal Shusterman is a master of creepy, chilling Science Fiction. But having read most of his work, we can safely say that Neal Shusterman is a master of any genre he tries his hand at. Here are five of our favorites that are perfect for Halloween or any time!

The Unwind Dystology

The world of Unwind is one of the creepiest ever constructed. In this topsy-turvy worls, teenagers are sent to “Harvest Camps” to have their bodies taken apart and used for spare parts. The story follows three teens: problem child Connor, orphan Risa and “tithe” Levi, all slated for unwinding. When they’re broguth together, they have to fight to survive. This five-book series is quality from start to finish, and is sure to become one of your favorites.

The Everlost Trilogy

This trilogy, written for MG readers but great for all ages, follows two kids, Nick and Allie are dead…almost. They find themselves in a world between life and death called Everlost, where they run into all kinds of creepy villains. Nick and Allie are not only super smart and loveable, but a heck of an OTP. This slowest of slow burns is too sweet…and not just because Nick turns into chocolate at one point.

Challenger Deep

This book is masterful story about mental illness. This book is hard to describe, so here’s the blurb. You can take our word that it’s an amazing book.

A captivating novel about mental illness that lingers long beyond the last page, Challenger Deep is a heartfelt tour de force by New York Times bestselling author Neal Shusterman.

Caden Bosch is on a ship that’s headed for the deepest point on Earth: Challenger Deep, the southern part of the Marianas Trench.

Caden Bosch is a brilliant high school student whose friends are starting to notice his odd behavior.

Caden Bosch is designated the ship’s artist in residence to document the journey with images.

Caden Bosch pretends to join the school track team but spends his days walking for miles, absorbed by the thoughts in his head.

Caden Bosch is split between his allegiance to the captain and the allure of mutiny.

Caden Bosch is torn.

Full Tilt

In this YA horror novel, teenager Blake finds himself trapped inside a magic carnival. No one has ever managed to ride all the rides and survive, btu that’s the only way to escape. Filled with action and intrigue. this one will make you think twice before exploring an abandoned carnival!

The Arc of Scythe Trilogy

This is one of our favorites on the list. In the future, dying is impossible, unless you’re chosen by a Scythe. This trilogy follows two Scythe interns, who are learning to find the strength to kill while also falling for one another. This is the ultimate slow burn…or slow sink. We had to. Please forgive us. We need the new book, The Toll, yesterday, please. It comes out in November!

There you have it: just a few of Neal Shusterman’s brilliant books. Which will you be reading first?
