I don’t know if Evelyn and I would ever work as BFFs but I would certainly love to listen to this woman talk about her life. In fact, that’s basically what this book is about. Evelyn telling her life story to a journalist. I got to experience first-hand the emotions that I’m talking about here while reading the book and let me tell you, it was magical. After you are done listening to Evelyn’s life unfold, there’s nothing left but to feel an incredible loss deep inside that she’s not real. Why can’t she be real? The world needs Evelyn to be real. Well, she’ll remain real in my memory and I’ll treasure the experience of listening to her life as if we actually had sat at a cafe together and she had told me those stories herself. Or maybe not a cafe but some glamorous speakeasy with a delicious drink in hand.
These are the heroines that I would love to have at my back, they’re interesting, funny and not afraid to help you bury the bodies when needed. What more could you want in a BFF?
