Four Reasons Why You Should be Reading Bringing Down the Duke

One of my favorite romances that I read in the past year was Bringing Down the Duke by  Evie Dunmore. This is historical romance that is very feminist, romantic, and fun. I love historical romances, so I always pick up different books in that genre. I know other readers who don’t usually read any historical romances that ended up loving this book. Check down below for five reasons why you should pick up and read Bringing Down the Duke before the sequel, A Rogue of One’s Own releases on September 1st, 2020.

1. A Strong Female Lead

One of my favorite things about this book is Annabelle, our main character. I felt like she was a very strong, relatable character that I fell in love with from the first chapter. I really enjoyed learning more about The Suffragette movement along with Annabelle and watching her fall in love.

2. A Swoon Worthy Romantic Interest

One other character that made me fall madly in love with this book was the main love interest, Sebastian. For me, a large part of reading this book was watching Sebastian grow and evolve as a person. This wasn’t just Annabelle’s story but was his as well. I felt like I wasn’t immediately in love with his character, and I grew to respect him and love his character as I continued reading the book. I thought that his character development was incredibly well done and executed.

3.  History and Feminism!

What I love about this book, and what I love about reading historical fiction and historical romance in general, is the history that surrounds the story. This book is full of history, especially information pertaining to the women’s movement in Britain during the time of the book’s setting. I found it really cool and fun to read about, and I thought that it added a lot of depth to the romance.

4. The Side Characters!

One of my favorite things about this book were the side characters. I really loved learning about Anabelle and Sebastian’s friends and family, and I thought that the author, Evie Dunmore, did a really good job of filling out this story with interesting, smart, and unique characters that really make me want to read the next book in the series!
