Historically Yours: Top Historical Romance Picks for May 13 to June 2

Welcome to Historically Yours where I share some of my top Historical Romance picks for the new 2 weeks!

One Night of Passion by Erica Ridley (May 14)

This is the third book in the Wicked Dukes Club series. Lifelong romantic Thaddeus Middleton is on the hunt for a wife. He hopes to find a woman more attracted to him than to money. Instead, he finds himself drawn to a spitfire who isn’t interested in him at all. Miss Priscilla Weatherby will inherit a fortune if she remains unwed and scandal-free. Thad is a sweet, sexy delight, whose passionate embrace will ruin everything unless she can resist him.

A Rogue by Night by Kelly Bowen (May 28)

This is the third book in the Devils of Dover series. Harland Hayward is living a triple life as an aristocrat and physician by day and a smuggler by night. As a doctor, Harland has the perfect cover to appear in odd places at all hours, a cover he uses to his advantage. He’s chosen this life to save his family from financial ruin. Katherine thought she was done smuggling. She has returned to England to escape to a new life — once she fulfills the last contract. And that means working with Hayward.

The Earl Next Door by Amelia Grey (May 28)

This is the first book in the First Comes Love series. When Adeline, the Countess of Wake, learns of her husband’s sudden death, she realizes she’s free. Finally, she can have the life she has always dreamed of, and she certainly doesn’t want to remarry. Lord Lyonwood, son of a philandering marquis, will not be like his father. He wants to run his estates responsibly and find a wife who will bring love to his life. When he meets spirited and self-reliant Adeline in a case of near-scandalous mistaken identity, Lyon feels he’s met his match. But Adeline isn’t interested in a marriage proposal.

The Rogue of Fifth Avenue by Joanna Shupe (May 28)

This is the first book of the Uptown Girls series. In serving the wealthy power brokers of New York society, Frank Tripp has finally gained the respectability and security his own upbringing lacked. There’s no issue he cannot fix, except for one: the beautiful and reckless daughter of an important client who doesn’t seem to understand the word danger. Excitement lies just below Forty-Second Street and Mamie Greene is determined to explore all of it — while playing a modern-day Robin Hood along the way. What she doesn’t need is her father’s lawyer dogging her every step and threatening her efforts to help struggling families in the tenements.

Rebel by Beverly Jenkins (May 28)

This is the first book in the Women Who Dare series. Valinda Lacey’s mission in the steamy heart of New Orleans is to help the newly emancipated community survive and flourish. But soon she discovers that here, freedom can also mean danger. When thugs destroy the school she has set up and then target her, Valinda runs for her life — and straight into the arms of Captain Drake LeVeq. As an architect from an old New Orleans family, Drake has a deeply personal interest in rebuilding the city. Raised by strong women, he recognizes and admires Valinda’s determination. But when Valinda’s father demands she marry a man she doesn’t love, her daring rebellion draws Drake into an irresistible intrigue.

The Brooding Duke of Danforth by Christine Merrill (June 1)

When a storm hits, outspoken Abigail Prescott is trapped at a house party with Benedict Moore, the Duke of Danforth — the very man she was once betrothed to. Wishing to know the man she was to marry, Abigail had called off their sudden engagement. But reunited once more, Benedict seems determined to win her back and make her his duchess.

A Wife Worth Investing In by Marguerite Kaye (June 1)

This is the second book in the Penniless Brides of Convenience series. Knocking on Owen Harrington’s door, impoverished and desperate Miss Phoebe Brannagh wonders if London’s most eligible catch will recognize her. But injured and reclusive, Owen is no longer a carefree man. And he’s in urgent need of a convenient wife. Owen’s shocking proposal allows Phoebe to fulfill her life’s ambition to open a restaurant, but he tempts her to hope for a new dream – marriage.

A Runaway Bride for the Highlander by Elisabeth Hobbes (June 1)

This is the third book in the Lochmore Legacy series about a Scottish castle through the ages. Far from her home in France, Marguerite Vallon escapes her arranged marriage to a man she despises. Stowing away in a stranger’s cart, she finds herself headed deep into the Highlands with Ewan Lochmore, the new Earl of Glenarris. Ewan vows to protect her and convey her safely to her destination. But maybe the freedom Marguerite has been searching for can be found with this rugged warrior.

An Earl for the Shy Widow by Ann Lethbridge (June 1)

This is the second book in the Widows of Westram series. Having left the army to take up the title of Earl of Longhurst, Ethan feels the weight of his new responsibilities. He was brusque with the woman picking blackberries on his land, only to find she’s his neighbor, Lady Petra, who helps him despite his gruffness. A wealthy bride would save his estate, but all he can think about is this shy, kind and penniless widow.

Tempted by His Secret Cinderella by Bronwyn Scott (June 1)

This book is part of the Allied at the Altar series. A wild scheme to secure a patron for her father’s play finds Elidh Easton at a house party dressed as Italian royalty. But Elidh catches the eye of their dashing host, Sutton Keynes, who has four weeks to find a noble bride. He’d never have looked twice at her normally—she is poor, plain and untitled — but in the moment, it’s easy to imagine they have a future together.

A Debutante in Disguise by Eleanor Webster (June 1)

Determined to help people, Letty Barton has a double life — a society lady and a trained doctor. No one knows that Dr. Hatfield is actually a woman. Called to an emergency, she comes face-to-face with her patient’s brother, Lord Anthony Ashcroft. They’d once shared a spark-filled flirtation — now he’s a brooding, scarred war hero. But how long will it be before he recognizes her beneath her disguise and the sparks begin to fly once more?
