What to Read

July Horoscopes and Book Recs!

What do the literary stars have in store for you this July? Find out with our horoscopes and book recs!

Aries (March 21- April 19)

It’s okay to set boundaries not just in your personal life and work life but also in your relationships. These boundaries let not just you but those around you take steps towards goals you want to reach. Don’t settle for quick fixes and solutions that don’t meet what you need. While it may seem pointless to ask for things from the universe, that couldn’t be farthest from the truth. This is the time of possibilities! Listen to that inner #girlboss in your head and finally do what she says and trust yourself.

Book Recommendation: The Girlfriend by Abigail Barnette

Taurus (April 20- May 20)

There is nothing wrong with being a strong, independent person who don’t need no SO. That being said, let me also remind you that there is nothing wrong with accepting help, whether or not you asked for it. Yes, I know there are things called boundaries and I just got done telling Aries to set boundaries, but you Taurus need to redefine yours (boundaries that is). If someone offers to do dishes, let them, but don’t be the backseat driver because they are washing forks first instead of spoons. Fun fact Taurus, you are a fixed sign and you so happen to be fixed to the Earth, which also means that you have the hardest time changing. So when letting down some boundaries remember that the smallest change is still a change.

Book Recommendation: No Perfect Hero by Nicole Snow

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Oh stubborn Gemini, now is not the time to put in your earbuds and turn the volume all the way up on your ‘I don’t need your advice’ playlist. Nope, this time around you need to put the earbuds away and give your full attention. The advice you are looking for will come your way, and you only need to ask. We all have that go to person that gives us the full honest, no bullsh*t advice that we all need. Remember that you are the one in need of help so don’t let your ugly twin side peek out: you know that your silent twin side can drive even your closest friends away. If you feel she’s coming out, remember your yoga breathing!

Book Recommendation: The Wife Trap by Tracy Anne Warren

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

You are the only one who can take the steps towards change. Yeah, I know you’ve probably heard that your whole life. But this time around, you need to take charge and really make those changes you’ve been putting off. Embrace the change and remember that this has been something you’ve been wanting to do for a while. Whatever it is that you are changing in your life, there is room for adjustment and reevaluating after everything is said and done. If it’s a self-makeover remember your hair will grow back, and who knows what you’ll discover about yourself.

Book Recommendation: My Fake Rake by Eva Leigh

Leo (July 23-August 22)

You have your beliefs and are set in your ways, and you don’t really care what people say about it. You have a routine that works for you, and when someone comes into your life either as a friend or as a potential love interest, your routine might get a little out of joint. Remember that you aren’t cold and robotic but that you are passionate and warm-hearted. Don’t forget to tell yourself that once in a while. Facing a difficult reality is normally a weakness for you but let it become a strength!

Book Recommendation: The Bride Test by Helen Hoang

Virgo (August 23-September 22)

Dealing with your emotions is one of life’s hardest things to learn. Big or small, doesn’t matter they are all hard to deal with. While you may have some trust issues, know that what you are feeling is real. Trust your gut and your heart, especially when it comes to matters of the heart that are messing with your head.

Book Recommendation: Make Me Yours by Tia Louise

Libra (September 23-October 22)

Don’t let the fear of the L word or the R word scare you (love and relationship). Some people affect you and your indecisive nature will be the death of you and possibly the relationship you want. You aren’t very good at being alone, but perhaps after being alone for a few months you’ll start to understand that those fears aren’t so big after all. Perhaps you’ve avoided them simply because you know that confrontation will come at some point and then what? Don’t worry, confrontation comes with any relationship in your life, but when you want something or someone bad enough a little bickering doesn’t seem so bad.

Book Recommendation: The Countess Conspiracy by Courtney Milan

Scorpio (October 23-November 21)

Having a calendar at this point in the year seems a little pointless to some, but not you. While you are still somehow busy with everything, take a good look at your calendar and see what you can take off your never ending to do list or what other tedious thing you can simply skip this time around. Keep the important things, but anything extra that you dread should be taken off the calendars and lists!

Book Recommendation: The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez

Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)

Does jumping in a car and driving away, changing your name and possibly your how you look just to avoid some situations sounds like something you’ve considered one too many times? Yeah, us too. But sometimes we just need to put on our big girl panties and face some situations head on. It’s very adult and it kind of sucks sometimes. The situations you are avoiding might be life changing in one way or another, but keep in mind that not all change is bad.

Book Recommendation:  The Trouble With Hating You by Sajni Patel

Capricorn (December 22-January 19)

You are as practical as they come. You like responsibility, discipline, and tradition. So when something comes along that throws you for a loop don’t expect your know-it-all self take over. You might know just about everything, but once in a while let someone else help you solve the puzzles.

Book Recommendation: House Rules by Ruby Lang

Aquarius (January 20-February 18)

Playing catch up is never fun and while you might be returning to a “normal” work life after working from home after a few months, don’t let the unfinished work get you worked up. Sort and organize, then conquer, but don’t expect all your work to get done in one day, or two, or even in a week. Don’t get burnt out, think big but remember the moment and focus on the here and now. This also goes for your love life, don’t let a relationship burn you out, thinking big can be fun but remember the here and now.

Book Recommendation: Grave Mistakes by Ivy Asher and Raven Kennedy

Pisces (February 19-March 20)

This time of year has you run down, tired, and maybe even a little lost. What you need is a little break, a little me time, and a little laughter. Laughter after all is the best medicine, so do something that makes you smile, or watch one of your favorite rom-coms (or several) until you feel that laughter go through you. While you are a natural introvert, connecting with your people will also help you re-energize a little. Don’t force yourself to be creative, whatever comes out of this re-energize time should be like your battery recharging, not draining the process you just made.

Book Recommendation: Evvie Drake Starts Over by Linda Holmes
