The Family Journal was one of the last books I read in 2019, and once I picked it up, I didn’t want the story to end. This was my first Carolyn Brown read and will not be my last. This is a friends to lovers romance between single Mom Lily and Mack Cooper. Lily has packed her two kids up and is returning to Comfort, Texas, her hometown and childhood home. Mack has been renting her house and the two agree they will live as housemates. Shortly after arriving home, Lily discovers a leather-bound journal with entries written by five generations of women from her family. Lily begins reading the journal entries and is reminded of the importance of family and love. This was the kind of read you curl up with a warm blanket and just sit and let the story take you away. Lily was such a relatable character; she is simply trying to hold things together for her and her kids. What I love about Mack is, he’s a man who shows up. Both Lily and her kids face situations where they come to realize this and love him for it. I did too. This was so sweet and cozy. I highly recommend it. This is another that was available on both Kindle Unlimited and Audible Escape. This is definitely a good story to experience via audio.
If you are a fan of Kindle Unlimited, I’d love to know what titles you’ve read that blew you away! Or, what your most recent one-click was. I’ll be back soon with more recommendations.
