Frolic’s ‘Lit & Liquor’ Featuring The Wedding Date Cocktail

(Welcome to Lit & Liquor: An Instagram Story Series our brand-new video series for Instagram Stories that pairs great reads with original cocktail recipes.)

As an avid romance reader, there’s nothing better than mixing up quality and refreshing cocktail and snuggling up with a good book on my favorite reading chair. This is why having a mixologist husband, Sebastian Dominguez, is a blessing, something I do not take for granted. We are the ultimate “a book and a drink” duo.

For our first Lit & Liquor: An Instagram Story Series we got in the wedding spirit. We created a delicious, strawberry, bubbly cocktail based on Jasmine Guillory’s The Wedding Date.

In the novel, main character Alexa Monroe gets stuck in an elevator with a hottie who ends up being her very own unexpected wedding date. Drew Nichols is hard to resist, and the Californians end up pursuing a long-distance relationship, and, not to mention, a ton of foodie-based dates. In the beginning of the novel, Alexa is clutching a bottle of Veuve Cliquot, which inspired us to create a champs-based strawberry cocktail we affectionately call The Wedding Date.

We’re taking suggestions for next week’s Lit & Liquor: An Instagram Story Series, tag us @onfrolic and let us know libation we should make next and what book we should pair it with. For now, we leave you with “The Wedding Date” recipe. And please, do try this delicious concoction at home!

The Wedding Date

2 ounces of light rum (Turtle Bay Rum preferred)

1 ounce of strawberry preserves, stirred

Top off with chilled rose champagne (Chandon preferred)

Garnish with a strawberry slice

Sip and enjoy!
