Love Emoji Dictionary: the best emojis to send to your Significant Other

The average 2019 relationship starts with a Tinder swipe and ends with a break-up text. Let’s face it—we’re a bunch of digital looney birds living in one giant digital world. We embrace it though, don’t we? Romance may no longer mean boomboxes blasting your favorite love song, but it certainly is not dead. Today’s romantic gestures are different: Flirts start with a DM, serenades are replaced by YouTube links, and love notes are cute texts.

If you’re interested in adding some flavor to your text conversations, emojis might be your best bet. There’s no need to reuse the classic double heart icon or heart-eyes emoji when there’s a whole slew of romantic emojis waiting to be used. The next time you want to wow your significant other with an unexpectedly romantic emoji gesture, try one of these.

Star Eyes

Cousin to the heart eye emoji, the star-eye emoji is a spunky way to shoot a message to your significant other telling them that you’re their biggest fan.

Hugging Face

According to Emojipedia (yes, it’s a thing), the hugging face is “often used to represent jazz hands.” Either that, or you’re ready to tackle that special someone, and an emoji is just the way to convey that.

Sweet Stuff

Okay, so you’ve got options with this one. Pick a dessert emoji of your choice (cake, cookies, ice cream, etc.), and send that to remind your significant other that you think they’re pretty sweet.

Rose

The rose emoji isn’t exactly a physical bouquet of a dozen roses, but it’s a nice reminder that you’re thinking of someone.

Couple with Heart

Under-used but definitely valuable, this emoji is a cute emblem of a relationship. It’s a nice alternative to the more popular romantic emojis, like the kissy face and winky face.

Bomb Shell

Not one emoji, but two! If you’re feeling extra flirty and want to call your S/O a bombshell, send them this duo: 💣🐚

That’s a wrap, folks.

So the next time you’re throwing virtual rocks (emojis) at your lovebird’s phone, try mixing it up. Everyone expects a heart text here and there, but some spunky emojis could be just the thing you need to add some spice to your texts!
