#MerchMonday: Match Your Nails To Some of The Summer’s Hottest Book Covers

Summer is well underway, which means I’m personally much more mindful about the state of my manicure and pedicure than I am any other time of year. Lately, I can’t go to Target or any other one-stop-shop without considering picking up a new color to spruce up my nails.

So, I’ve started thinking creatively, and decided it could be fun to think about new nail polish colors that could match another trend: candy-colored cartoonish book covers.

Whether you want to match your manicure to your latest read (Hello, immediate bookstagram post!) or you’re just looking for new mani/pedi inspiration, here are some nail colors that match some of the season’s popular reads.

Fix Her Up and Grandma Kissed A Gaucho

Last year, on pedicure friend date, I agonized about whether purple was too bold a choice. Eventually, I took the plunge and had zero regrets!

Fix Her Up has jumped out at me from bookstores and bookstagrams this month, and its adorable cover had me longing for some purple. Luckily, OPI’s Grandma Kissed A Gaucho seems perfectly made to help me embody the joy that the cover gives me.

Red White and Royal Blue and Delhi Dance

There’s so much to smile about when it comes to Red, White and Royal Blue. It’s funny, cute, and timely choice for the recent 2019 Pride month.

You know what else makes me smile? Its soft bubblegum pink cover, with the illustrated main characters adorably learning on either side of the title.

Essie’s Delhi Dance nail polish is perfect to capture this same lovely pink optimism that the cover represents.

The Bride Test and Wheels on the Bus

A fun fact I learned (via Instagram, I do believe) is that the cover for The Bride Test was actually an early attempt to make cover for Helen Hoang’s breakout hit, The Kiss Quotient. Lucky for her, BOTH covers are iconic and eye-popping!

If you’re feeling particularly sunny, you can match yourself to The Bride Test with Ella and Mila’s adorable Wheels on the Bus color.

Her Royal Highness and Can’t Find My Czechbook

If last year was the year of purple for me, this is the year of blue. I used to fear that blues would look too stark against my pasty skin, but now I am absolutely in love with colors like this one!

The cover for Her Royal Highness maintains the same kind of coolness. With the main character’s fun glasses and the blue-and-white color scheme, this cover and nail combo absolutely scream summertime chic.

Pride, Prejudice and Other Flavors and No Place Like Home

It’s truth universally acknowledged that you can’t go wrong with some Pride and Prejudice connections in a romance novel. This immediately makes me interested in Sonali Dev’s book!

Another universally acknowledged truth? Red is a consistently great nail color! Since the cover of Pride, Prejudice and Other Flavors features two tones of red, I split the difference and landed on Ella and Mila’s No Place Like Home color as visual homage to the book cover.

There are so many other wonderful book covers out there, which makes for endless nail polish possibilities! If you try any of these combos or have any fun pictures of nails that match your current read, don’t hesitate to tag @onfrolic on Instagram or Twitter. Let’s celebrate some pretty nails and good books: both of which are summertime staples!
