Never Heard of a Cookbook Club? Here’s how to start your own!

I don’t know about you, but one of my new years goals this year to bake more. For one it makes me happy; two hello you get cake, and three, I get to share it with my family (even if it’s just dropping a baked good off at the door and waving). What better way to get others involved than hosting an online cookbook club? We may not be meeting with our book clubs in person just yet, but thanks to video chat, we are still able to see our groups. Why not do the same with cookbooks? Here are some simple ways to help you set up your own Cookbook Club.

Pick a Name

While this might be a simple one to start with, hear me out. Picking a name, either as a group or by yourself will help others find your Facebook Group, Instagram, or however else you plan on getting the word out. Finding something fun and clever will also get others excited to join!

Set Some Dates

Setting some dates and recipes in advance will also help other be able to gather ingredients and have ample time to whip up the recipe. Pick a few dates and times so that your group has something to look forward to in the coming months (hello winter storms). The easiest way to do this besides just asking is having everyone take a vote!

Dust Off Your Cookbooks

Get your favorite cookbooks and share your favorite one. While you may not be making everything from Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking, picking out your favorites and some new recipes to try will get you in the cooking or baking spirit.

Don’t Make it Complicated

Don’t complicate things. Try not use ingredients that are to costly or that might not be available everywhere. Try making different months different themes! Decide who goes first to pick the recipe and share.

Have Some Fun

This is a fun way for you to connect with your friends and family, don’t put too much pressure on yourself if whatever you try doesn’t come out picture perfect! Getting others involved might also be fun. Uf you have a S.O or a roommate, ask them if they want to help.

What are you waiting for? Get out there and start a Cookbook Club of your own!

You don’t have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces – just good food from fresh ingredients. ~Julia Child~
