Getting back into the groove of things after the holidays has not been easy! From holiday parties, to family time, to long hallmark movie nights, it’s been hard to pick reading back up. While starting the New Year with a refreshing blank slate and setting aside the time to settle on resolutions (hello run club), to say I haven’t found my mojo is quite obvious! It’s been frustrating trying to set aside the time, so I’ve taken my pursuit on the go! If you’re also feeling this kind of slump, here are some book formats that are not so ordinary:

1. Audiobooks!

I’m currently enjoying the benefits of the romance package on audible. Granted, I’ve had this for months and haven’t used it but, it’s a new year! I’m loving Reckless by Lex Martin. It’s set in Austin, which I just visited for the first time and with the imagery used in the book I can smell Rosita’s taco’s. It’s a single dad novel with a heroine I love! My commute to work has been so much better.

2. Podcasts

These are my jam and while usually I’m listening to true crime, I’m trying to discover new book ways to enjoy them. Snark Squad talks all things pop culture, including books. Check out their live episode on Pride and Prejudice and some of their nostalgic talks about the Baby Sitters Club!

Sarah MacLean (love her books) and Jen Prokop have a podcast called Fated Mates that is book by book discussion on Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series and I cannot say enough about these books. They jumpstarted me back into reading years ago and listening to these recaps and discussions are a great way to remember how happy and excited these books made me feel.

3. Netflix

In my quest to look for new and exciting book things, I found You on Netflix. I absolutely loved You by Caroline Kepnes when I listened to it on audible and couldn’t wait to see the series. It doesn’t disappoint! Penn Badgley (hello Dan!) is the right amount of creepy yet charismatic that makes up what is Joe, the main character. Some things translate well on screen and other things from the book are downright scary. This was an easy binge!

As the month of January continues on, I hope to find my way back into reading my favorite books. Right now I’m having fun discovering new ways to enjoy reading. If you have any suggestions please comment away!
