From time to time we like to ask authors some pretty quick, pretty personal rapid-fire questions. Today, author Jennifer Dupee is in the hot seat. Her new book, The Little French Bridal Shop, is out March 9!
AM or PM?
PM.
Wake up and go, or gotta get your motor running?
Definitely gotta get my motor running.
TV, Books, Movies or Podcasts?
Books, books, books!
Quiet night in or big night out on the town?
Quiet night with occasional big night out.
Favorite writing drink?
Black coffee to start things off. Water the rest of the day.
Must-have snack for writer’s block?
Nuts, cheese, chips and guac.
Lounge by the pool or hike a mountain?
Hike a mountain then lounge by the pool.
Hike, run, walk, nap?
Occasional run, daily walk, wish I had more time to nap. Kids don’t know how good they have it!
‘Personal revenge’ or ‘karma will get them’?
Oh, karma will catch up to them. Life’s too short to get caught up in revenge.
Favorite way to sweat?
Lately, tennis bootcamp. So fun!
Online shopper or gotta try things on?
Gotta try things on – nothing ever fits right because I’m 5’1″.
No. 1 Bucket List wish?
To someday go on an Africa safari.
All-time favorite comedy movie?
Bridesmaids. Kristen Wiig is brilliant.
All-time favorite drama movie?
It’s a Wonderful Life. A little long, but classic.
Favorite type of chocolate treat?
Belgian dark chocolate. Yum.
Favorite crunchy snack?
Pita chips.
Do you have a nickname?
Nenners. My parents called me that when I was little and my sister still does (as does one of my lifelong friends).
Least favorite holiday and why?
Oh, this is a bummer, but I don’t love Mother’s Day because I lost my mother when I was 24. There are so many commercials on the radio about it and they really just get to me. But I do love being a mother and appreciate all mothers out there!
Best alcoholic beverage?
Bourbon.
Favorite meal ever?
Ever? Wow. Well, I lived in the Azores for 6 months and this one local restaurant served swordfish that was caught that same day. It was very simple (olive oil, salt, pepper) but so fresh and delicious.
Something no one knows about you that you feel you want to divulge?
I played the steel drum in college and then played with a band for a few years after I graduated.
Any tattoos?
One. I got it in Paris when I was 26. Wish I hadn’t.
Aside from phone, laptop, writing device (or charger!) what is something you can’t function without on a day-to-day basis?
My tiny, cozy home office. I share it with the washer/dryer but it’s still truly a room of my own!
Best way to relax?
Massage or facial. Wish I could afford to have one every month!
Title of your next book or work-in-progress?
I have two in the works – We All Fall Down and Go to the Moon.
