Tapas’ ‘Beware the Villainess!’ Dream Cast!

[Note from Frolic: We are so beyond excited to have Tapas web comic creator Ratique guest post on the site today. If you haven’t read Beware the Villainess! yet, you can check out the series trailer here!]

If you’re fan of comics, you’ll likely have debated which actors would best portray the characters in your favorite comic series, should it ever make it to the big screen. Same here!

I’m Ratique, creator of the fantasy/romance webcomic series Queen of Gods, which automatically gives me undeniable authority for making the best dream cast for Tapas’ latest hit series Beware the Villainess. Don’t believe me? Take a look and tell me if you disagree in the comments below!

The heroi-, I mean, villainess: Aubrey Plaza as Melissa Foddebrat

Okay look, I know what you’re thinking – Aubrey may be a bit of an odd choice, but hear me out! Melissa is pure physical comedy and a character with little to no social skills. You regularly see her laughing like a maniac while trying to scheme her way into a peaceful life (which never works), being helplessly tired of having to deal with those around her, as well as trying and failing to put a friendly smile on her face. Who else but Aubrey Plaza could fill this role and be a joy to watch?

Steven Yeun as crown prince Ian Bassilios, because of course!

Ian Bassilios is the crown prince and fiancé of our main character Melissa, and quite the handsome jerk, if I may say so! Unsure of his feelings towards Melissa, he flip flops between sadistically hurting her feelings and hoping to get her attention. It’s a role for a charismatic man with tons of comedic and dramatic potential; in other words, the perfect role for Steven Yeun!

Michael Ealy as Jake Foddebrat

Yes, I’m aware that Jake is Melissa’s brother, but this is my dream cast and I do what I want! The heir of the Foddebrat estate and royal assassin, Jake is quiet and mysterious, as well as anti-social. Michael Ealy already has the stunning eyes to play the main character’s younger brother, but really I just want to see how he looks rocking some long, white hair!

Cara Delevingne as Yona

Quite possibly the BEST side character, Yona is Melissa’s maid. She is consistently calm and collected (some may call her uncaring), not bothered or even interested in Melissa’s schemes. Cara Delevingne would have the easiest job, only having to make sure she looks cool and emotionless, all while secretly judging her mistress Melissa. A great role to be in, indeed!

Amanda Seyfried as Yuri Elizabeth, the beautiful heroine

Okay, I mean, must I explain more than simply showing Amanda’s and Yuri’s images next to one another? Not much is known about Yuri so far, so I’m secretly hoping there is more to her than being the gorgeous, amazing, goody-two-shoes heroine that every man will fall in love with. Despite Melissa not wanting to fill the role as villainess, Yuri is still the perfect foil, and I can’t wait to see those two interact!

Noah Centineo as Jack Photon, the handsome werewolf

It seems as though there is no current Netflix teen drama that Noah isn’t starring in, so this role would be right up his alley! Being consistently smooth and charming in his roles, Noah could turn Jack into an interesting character that would break more than one heart. And yes, he is also a werewolf (insert Twilight joke here).

Ken Jeong as the poor, scared coachman

Look, I’m not even sure that character has a name, but I love him! Being Melissa’s coachman, he manages to watch her whenever she plans her next scheme and is hilariously frightened of her. It is a character with lots of potential and there is no better actor than Ken Jeong to take over this role!

Now it’s your turn! Comment below with your dream cast for Beware the Villainess
