#TBT Recs: Extra! Extra! Read These 4 Journalism Romances to Escape the Bad News Cycle!

Wednesday, September 4th was National Newspaper Carrier Day. Is that even still a thing? In today’s online world filled with pay-walls do we still have newspaper carriers? We probably do, but I decided to use my creative license and give us a #TBT filled with heroes in Journalism. From newspapers to photojournalists, investigative writing is sexy work and don’t you forget it, regardless of how it’s delivered to you. Authors have embraced journalism for a long time, look no further than Interview with a Vampire by Anne Rice or maybe Rita Skeeter from Harry Potter’s Goblet of Fire fame. Okay yes, you win, Rita Skeeter is not sexy. However, you can’t toss a paper without bumping into a journalist in fiction! My soapbox plea for the week is, subscribe to your local news media outlet, now more than ever, it’s essential to be informed.

Constant Craving by Tamara Lush

The amount of love I feel for this book knows no bounds! Tamara Lush’s “day job” as reporter gives her unique insight into some of the inner workings of newspapers and how they run. Her inherent knowledge lends a sense of authenticity to the story. Add to that, chemistry and some smoking hot sex and whoa boy have you got a page-turner! Justine is an unapologetically, passionate woman. She’s passionate about running her father’s company, a local newspaper, The St. Augustine Times. Sadly, the paper is in financial turmoil, and Justine is forced to reach out to investors to save her family’s legacy. Enter Rafael, her ridiculously wealthy ex. The ex she’s never gotten over, the ex that challenged her on every level, the ex that was the best lay of her entire life. Is he back to actually help her, or is he looking for revenge? Why not both?!!? Justine is the ex he never fully recovered from either. Constant Craving is a trilogy, so buckle up for a hard-fought second chance romance. The passion and angst will not disappoint.

Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton

Our heroine Marisol Ferrera is a freelance writer researching her late grandmother Elisa’s exciting and turbulent life in Cuba’s high society. Marisol runs headlong into Cuba’s perilous political climate and into the arms of an attractive man with secrets of his own.

Show No Mercy by Cindy Gerard

The first book in Gerard’s Black Ops series puts journalist Jenna McMillan back in the country where terrorists held her captive not too long ago. In spite of her realistic fears, she agrees to interview a shady billionaire in hopes of finally understanding what happened to her and possibly, more importantly, to learn more about the operative, Gabriel Jones, that rescued her from her horrific capture months earlier.

Honor Reclaimed by Tonya Burrows

Sticking with the military theme of military black op soldiers rescuing journalists, Honor Reclaimed has a photojournalist, Phoebe Leighton in need of rescue. After stumbling into the middle of an arms deal, Phoebe finds herself in a sticky wicket when she realizes a man from her past, Seth Harlan is part of the team coming to save her. Past events have left Seth’s stability strained at best, but Phoebe might have a detail that could destroy him.
