Real by Katy Evans
Love it or hate it, there really seems to be little middle ground, but Real is definitely a book that delivers a punch. Remington Tate is a retired boxer that now breaks bones on the regular in the underground MMA circuit. Brooke is the physical therapist hired to keep his precious body in shape and fight-ready. The attraction is instant, and the sex is incredibly hot. There are obvious issues, especially the way his mental illness is handled. This book was released in 2013, and I’d imagine the mental illness aspect would be treated differently today.
Nonetheless, it’s a compelling story, filled to the brim with angst. Remy is the quintessential broken bad boy hero, and Brooke is the balm for his soul. And did I mention the sex? It’s crazy, there’s a lot of sniffing and licking!
I’d be remiss if I did a #TBT post about fighters and failed to mention the likes of JB Salsbury, Gina L. Maxwell, RJ Prescott, Vi Keeland, LA Fiore or Aly Martinez. The books that pack a punch make along and all-inclusive list of fabulous reader possibilities!
