To explain a little about what this post will be about, every Trope Tuesday post starts with the same introduction. In every romance book you read there are tropes or archetypes you find inside its pages. You can also see them in shows, movies, plays, etc. Every type of entertainment and media. Romantic tropes are everywhere, and they are fabulous. I adore them and I always tend to find my favorite ones in romance books so I can enjoy them even more. Trope Tuesday is a weekly column where I share books that I know people will enjoy with a specific central trope.
What is a trope? Urban Dictionary explains it best: “Despite the erroneous definitions already published here, trope on the interwebs really refers to an often overused plot device. It can also be described as another variation on the same theme. TV shows, movies, comics, games, anime’, & books are full of tropes & many rabid fan-sites now name & track said tropes with self-explanatory title for each one.” We can name a few: accidental pregnancy, best friends to lovers, sibling’s best friend, marriage of convenience, and so many more. Your favorite couples? They probably got a trope too! It’s always so nice to realize or find out your favorite romance trope and keep searching for books with the same theme. So really? Two years ago (What!!!) I did an age difference trope tuesday. I thought it was right and just about time to update that list. There you can find all my favorite romances with age gap. But in this new list you will find more new-ish titles that have come out recently. Age gap is still one trope I gravitate towards. It’s always fun to see how the author writes this dynamic and does it really well. All of these authors write wonderfully but these age gap romances are really the cherry on the sundae. If you love this romantic trope as much as I do, I recommend you take a look at this list.
Agay Llanera has written some of my favorite romances. They’re always so cute and fun. You know when you read one of her books you are going to have the time of your life. Mango Summer has an older heroine (yay!!) who is single. Which is not good for her, because her family’s legend says that if she isn’t married and with children, her mango farm will not harvest sweet mangoes. So when her best friend’s younger brother comes for a visit, it turns into so much more.
A romance set in the publishing industry? Perfect for us book lovers. The hero is about to turn 50 years old while the heroine is 27 years old. She gets hired by the company he works for to move them into the digital age. And when they meet, both of their life plans will suddenly change completely.
I’m huge fan of Xan West. Every time I see one of their books I’m completely in love with the cover first of all while knowing that the inside is just as beautiful as the outside. Xan is an exceptional writer. If you don’t follow them on Twitter please change that because they will make your life so much brighter.
Their Troublesome Crush is about Ernest and Nora. They’re both planning their dominant’s birthday party but also experiencing this sweet new romantic crush between them.
The heroine in Talia Hibbert’s novel is 12 years older than the hero. We don’t often see older heroines so this is one book you have to read. Plus Hibbert’s talent of wordsmanship is impeccable and That Kind of Guy shows you just how romantic her stories can be.
Rae needs a date for an awards ceremony. She isn’t going alone while her ex and his new wife are right going to be there. So she asks her new best friend Zach to be her fake boyfriend. What can possibly go wrong?
