Trope Rec Tuesday: Working With Animals Is Romantic AF

To explain a little about what this post will be about, I’m taking the intro I did for the last one: In every romance book you read there are tropes or archetypes. You can also see them in shows, movies, plays, etc. Romantic tropes are everywhere, and they are fabulous. I adore them and I always tend to find my favorite ones in romance books so I can enjoy them more. I decided to do a sort of Trope Tuesday piece where I will be talking about many tropes and recommend you all some of my favorites that fit.

What is a trope? Urban Dictionary explains it best I think: “Despite the erroneous definitions already published here, trope on the interwebs really refers to an often overused plot device. It can also be described as another variation on the same theme. TV shows, movies, comics, games, anime’, & books are full of tropes & many rabid fan-sites now name & track said tropes with self-explanatory title for each one.” We can name a few: accidental pregnancy, best friends to lovers, sibling’s best friend, marriage of convenience, and so many more for sure. Your favorite couples? They probably got a trope too! It’s always so nice to realize or find out your favorite romance trope and keep searching for books with the same theme.

Huge animal lovers, this one’s for you! I’ve written a Trope Rec Tuesday about characters having pets (which it’s amazing and you should all check it out and read those books) but I haven’t yet done one about characters working with animals before. I’m a huge animal lover so I have to do this because you know it’s going to be hella cute that the characters are interacting with animals probably 24/7 in their book. Romantic? Yes. Veterinarians, dog walkers, business owners, we have them all.

If The Dress Fits by Carla de Guzman

Martha is very happy with her life; she’s an accountant, fashionable, and has a very cute dog. Yes, she has never had a boyfriend, but so what? When her perfect cousin announces her wedding with Martha’s old crush, she has to come up with a plan. Enter best friend and veterinarian Max. Goofy, cute Max who has agreed to fake date her for the wedding.

Alert: The hero quotes Mr. Darcy at romantic and random moments. If you haven’t read this book, get to it!

A Perfect Holiday Fling by Farrah Rochon

This romantic Christmas novella is perfect for quiet evening in July. A Perfect Holiday Fling tells the story of veterinarian Callie and how done she is with her little town. After her ex-husband left, every resident in her small hometown is trying to match her with any person possible. And she’s done! She’s ready to close her clinic and move to a big city but first she might just cross off something in her life: have a holiday fling with the newcomer.

Alert: The hero rescues a cat for his five-year-old nephew so that’s when he meets Callie. CUTE INDEED.

Puppy Love by Lucy Gilmore

This book is one I haven’t read yet, but is definitely in my TBR. The cover is adorable. Look at it!!! Warning: Cute dog. This is the first book of a brand new series featuring service puppies. Our heroine runs a service puppy training business! She meets her new client Harrison, a firefighter, who isn’t allowed back in the field if he doesn’t get a service dog. He is assigned a Pomeranian.

Life on the Leash by Victoria Schade

This dog trainer has a very successful business, everything is good even if she doesn’t really have a social life. That all changes when she meets her new client Charlie. But Charlie is taken. Luckily she has a new friend, sweet Eli. And he is there to help her in any way he can.

I haven’t read this one either but since I first found out about this title, I was in love with the cover and I actually really love the way the story sounds. I’m happy to pick this up soon!
