Trope Rec Tuesday: Vampires Will Always Be A Thing

To explain a little about what this post will be about, I’m taking the intro I did for the last one: In every romance book you read there are tropes or archetypes. You can also see them in shows, movies, plays, etc. Romantic tropes are everywhere, and they are fabulous. I adore them and I always tend to find my favorite ones in romance books so I can enjoy them more. I decided to do a sort of Trope Tuesday piece where I will be talking about many tropes and recommend you all some of my favorites that fit.

What is a trope? Urban Dictionary explains it best I think: “Despite the erroneous definitions already published here, tropeon the interwebs really refers to an often overused plot device. It can also be described as another variation on the same theme. TV shows, movies, comics, games, anime’, & books are full of tropes & many rabid fan-sites now name & track said tropes with a self-explanatory title for each one.” We can name a few: accidental pregnancy, best friends to lovers, sibling’s best friend, marriage of convenience, and so many more for sure. Your favorite couples? They probably got a trope too! It’s always so nice to realize or find out your favorite romance trope and keep searching for books with the same theme.

Vampires are over? Not for me. And definitely not for many people. Vampires can stay here forever to be honest. We haven’t gotten to the fullest extent of them all. Let’s leave white European vampires aside and I’m here for all the vampires coming from other cultures!!!! Who is with me?!

As we know, in romance books, vampires really are something. It’s that supernatural being that will always come out first. Werewolves? Witches? Demons? Vampires! (But definitely yes to all the others). Vampires are mysterious. Vampires are evil. Vampires live for a very long time. Our main characters find all of that fascinating and end up falling for them as well as our cold and heartless vampire who has lived for a very long time with that little something missing. This is where our love story begins. Let me tell you these next books really do our vampires right. Want that epic vampire story? Let’s dig in.

Wander this World by G.L. Tomas

She has lived thousand lives and now she is being targeted by a serial killer. Reunited with Penley, things get a bit complicated. Wander this World is set in college and Penley and Melanie meet again after not seeing each other since high school when she was a senior. G.L. Tomas are that author duo that will make you fall head over heels with their writing. Trust me! This New Adult novel could be your introduction but for sure you will get so deep into these stories.

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

With the success of the TV show, I couldn’t not mention A Discovery of Witches, one of my all-time favorite vampire series (this is a trilogy tho!). I love big books and I cannot lie. For real. These books are HUUUUGE but let me tell you that this story will enchant you and for all you know, you might even finish this series in like a week. Time traveling, epic romance, history, enemies and finding the truth, A Discovery of Witches tells the story of Diana, a witch, and Matthew, a vampire. Both will fall under this undenying spell of love and their story will rewrite the stars. YES!

Turning Tables by Torrance Sené

This erotic short story will make you want it longer! It really tells a story that will make you want to find out more about these characters and their relationships. This enemies to lovers story will bring a werewolf and a vampire together. And yes this is F/F. YOU AREN’T READY.

Better Off Red by Rebekah Weatherspoon

Sororities. Vampires. Girls. Though for Ginger there are more important things like keeping her GPA perfect. But somehow the world of these girls, the Alpha Beta Omega sorority, are drawing Ginger in. Soon enough she will find out all their little secrets behind those big doors, one of them being that they are all vampires and the fun is just beginning.

Kissed by Vampire by Caridad Pineiro

This vampire elder, Stacia, has roamed on her own for quite a long time; her nights spent empty and eternal. She longs for love, but knows that will never happen, and settles for one night stands and quick bites. She will meet face-to-face with a face she knew before, a DEA agent with strong walls but a mushy interior.
