It’s time for Back to School, which means that we’re getting bakc into reading! Just kidding–of course we never stopped!

Donna Soluri | Immortal Born by Lynsay Sands

Yes, we are thirty books in to Sands’ beloved series and I still love reading the new stories. In this installment of the famed Argeneau series, Allie, our heroine, befriends very pregnant vampire on the run. She agrees to care for the baby should anything ever happen to the mom. Poor Allie has no real idea what caring for a vampire baby entails and quickly finds herself on the run and running out of blood to nourish baby Liam. After more than five years of living in the shadows and fearing for their lives, the bad guys are closer than they’ve ever been. Luckily our hero Magnus and the Argeneau posse are able to swoop in and save the day. In doing so, Magnus realizes Allie is his fated mate; a human, on the run with an orphaned vampire kid with a strong distrust of vampires, doesn’t that just open up an interesting can of worms!?! Lisa Ward | Moti on the Water by Leylah Attar

Leylah’s gifted style of writing immediately pulled me into both the unique story and the exquisite scenery of the Greek Isles. I could almost smell, taste, hear and feel everything Moti (soft “t”) touched or experienced.

I couldn’t get enough of the quirky characters, their heritage, and the witty, but also thought-provoking plotline.

My new book boyfriend, Alex with his deep thoughts, creativity, patience, kindness, thoughtfulness, and clever wit, will melt your heart.

This book had so many passages that I highlighted and without spoiling it, one “easter egg” mention of a past book.

Aurora Dominguez | No Judgements by Meg Cabot

Meg is the ultimate queen and one of my biggest inspirations, so I was thrilled when a friend sent me a signed advance copy of this super adorable book. Full of romance, cute pets, and set in the midst of an incoming hurricane to Key West, this book had me hooked since page one. I devoured it in one quick sitting on a laid-back Sunday this August. The writing is impeccable, the characters the cutest, and I would completely recommend this upcoming September chick-lit rom-com type of release to romance fans. Pick it up on September 24th!

Jess Moro | Lady Rogue by Jenn Bennett

This was my first book by Bennett and I loved it. Lady Rogue is a historical fiction novel that centers around the infamous Vlad the Impaler’s ring. I loved how the history of the period was mixed in with such a modern feel. The history didn’t weigh down the story but added to the richness of the thrill. I LOVE, LOVE the heroine who is witty, intelligent but also so relatable. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves a good mystery, storytelling and a goth life romance. I really hope there’s going to be more!

Bree Hill | Cowboy to the Core by Maisey Yates

My favorite thing I read this month was Cowboy to the Core by Maisey Yates, which is book six in her Gold Valley series. Maisey Yates writes internal conflict, familial issues and the push and pull between very complex characters so well and that’s what we get in this romance between Jamie and Gabe. I read some really good stuff in August but it was this cowboy romance that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about since I finished it.

Alexandra Someillan | Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson

Second Chance Summer was the perfect book to end my summer vacation with because it was the kind of book that combined the sweetness of summer and the sadness of spending one last summer with the one you love. Matson took me back to those restless summer days and the emotional journey of growing up. This book is more than just about loss. Second Chance Summer is about facing your fears, realizing that the people you love have always been there, and how one summer could change the whole trajectory of your life. Second Chance Summer made me smile through my tears and that’s what made it my favorite August read of all.
