As we close out 2019 and welcome 2020 with open arms, I’d like to say a quick thank you to all of our Frolic readers. Sharing our love of books with you is truly one of the highlights of our days. I look forward to compiling this favorites list every month, for you, and selfishly for me and my already overloaded TBR list! I always find at least one new to me author to investigate further, and I hope the same is true for you, too! I hope your 2020 is filled with romance, bliss, and lovely times. Remember to be kind to yourself and laugh as much as possible. Oh, and read, read all of the good books, we will keep feeding your book-loving beast!
Well now…closed off, grumpy somewhat socially awkward hero Ford and bright, shiny, chef full of sunshine Angel are a match made in my catnip-romance heaven! I do have a very soft spot for the grumpy/sunshine trope and Whiteout lived up to the hype.
Who on earth would’ve ever thought a book set in the frozen tundra with over the clothes heavy petting/sex and death from the elements and incredibly bad guys could be hot and something you’d want to actually read?! Fabulous work putting you in the moment, most of the time my toes were cold out of sympathy for this couple!
The suspense is intense, the chemistry is off the charts which is no small feat with a hero as closed off as Ford. The premise is incredibly unnerving and the action is edge of your seat. Very well done, can’t wait for more! Whiteout is the first book in Anders’ Survival Instincts series and it releases on January 28th – get it on your TBR list now!
I loved everything about this story, and it was truly unputdownable for me.
The twenty-six-year-old heroine, Cassie, is one of the strongest, most independent, and fierce heroines I’ve ever read. She’s a woman in a mostly man’s profession and proved herself not only to handle each emergency with calmness but to be better at her job than the majority of her peers. Her tenacity and determination were both admirable inspirational.
Owen, the sigh-worthy hero, has made my all-time top favorite book boyfriends list.
The story covered forgiveness, work, and life struggles, heroes, with a dash of suspense. It was lighter on the romance element, which I love, but the character development and story pacing made up for it.
As Frolic’s YA expert, I have been blessed to read some books I advance for an honest review, and for my weekly columns. This one has been my favorite that I read for the month of December, a book which comes out in May 2020 but is surely worth the wait. The first in the Wolves of No World series, author Romina Garber weaves together Argentine folklore and what it means to be illegal in a timely, intimate, and emotionally powerful narrative that will surely stick around long after you’ve turned the last page. I know it stuck around with me, and I know you will find this emotionally charged and fantasy-filled story fascinating. Put it in your TBR for 2020 ASAP! I highly recommend it.
Insatiable is friends to lovers romance between Noah and Meg, that really solidified for me, why this trope is one that makes total sense. Insatiable set the standard for any friends to lovers romances I read going forward! The ups and downs were crazy, it was sexy as hell and romance I’ll be recommending for a very long time.
There are very few romance books in my life that I have fangirled over. One Day in December is one of the few exceptions. Josie Silver’s debut novel made me swoon like my seventeen-year-old self who would write love poems at two in the morning. I picked up this story not knowing much about the synopsis and it pleasantly surprised me in the best way. If you are a fan of sweeping and angst-ridden love at first sight stories than this book will leave you in an exhilarating love daze you will never want to shake off.
You guys… I seriously cannot handle how much I love Enne Salta and Levi Glaisyer. The Shadow Game series has it all: magic, casinos, unblievably good character development, mystery…I could rant about these books for hours. If you’re a fan of YA fantasy or steampunk, this is a must-read.
